quicky on rear bumper??

About to fit rear bumper. It has tubes protruding 5.7mm towards body of car, the other side of which take the overriders.
Question is, is the rear bumper usually mounted 5.7mm from body, or do people cut these down to a correct length, or do most run the tubes through the bodywork rather than butt the ends against the body?

Or is there a traditional distance to mount the bumper away from the body?

Cheers all

Not sure what types you have but My overiders have 10mm studding screwed into them. This then has spacers that are roughly 12mm (1/2") long then the bumper fits on. The small spacers are for the gap between the overiders and the bumper. On the back of the bumper is a piece of tube that extends through the body and butts up against the mounting points on the chassis. On the Dax these pipes are roughly 5-6" long.
The gap between the body and bumper is personal preference but mine is about an inch away from the body at the ends.

Hope that helps.

I can take pictures later if required.

Craig.

The half inch at the ends is the bit I needed. Thanks for the offer of pics but no need, cheers.

The only thing about personal preference is i would have to repeatedly cut bits off, and couldn't get them back on! Thats why I was wondering if there is a popular distance.

Any other takers on a "traditional" distance?
