| Stone chip Protection question I'm currently having my Dax painted and am a bit concerned about the prospect of spending alot of money on a paint job only to get it chipped/scratched later on. One of my mates suggested i get it coated with stuff they put on ferraris and touring cars etc which is completely invisible/transparent. Was just wondering if any of you have any knowledge, experience or opinion on this. Was looking at some stuff called Ventureshield. Here's a link http://www.rhinoprotect.co.uk/stone_..._showcase.html Looking forward to your views, Cheers Si

| Mr experience 3M paint protection film on a cobra is it pulls off the paint when you take it off; so pointless IMHO. To repair the paint pulled off my ns rear wing on the Crendon cost £250, and when you take into account the cost of the film, the whole idea just doesnt make economic senes. My painter said it wasnt uncommon for the film to do this, especially with glass cars. As Wilf says, youre going to get chips whatever happens, I'd rather pay for the chips to be repaired than for the additional damage done by the paint protection film.

| Kev; our man Dingo Cooke will tell you all about this stuff, funnily enough in the five years I drove the TVR Chimaera, it seemed every time I went out I collected another stone chip.. yet in just over 500 miles of Dax driving, I haven't collected a single one, wondered if the 'Mercedes Brilliant Black' has a built in Teutonic anti-stone defence system.. Course I've done it now; probably get the first one next time I go out.. Paul/runt.
