Windscreen wiper regulations

Hi to all,

I have a Cobra which has been pre drilled to mount 3 windscreen wipers. The car is about to go off and be painted but before this happens, can anybody tell me if there are any regulations which would prevent me from re-drilling the bodywork to have the more authentic two wiper system installed.

I was wondering if there is a modern SVA requirement for 3 wipers or if the swept area of two wipers isn't sufficient for example to pass current legislation??

Regards

Superarnie

The SVA manual states "Check all wipers move over an area of the windscreen sufficient to give the driver an adequate view of the road in front and forward of the nearside and offside of the vehicle" Section 3 page 66 http://www.rootpeg.net/SVAMarch2004.pdf
If this can be done with two wipers then it is OK. (As far as I'm aware, all Cobra windscreens are the same size so two will be as good as three as long as the sweep of the wipers are ok [130 degrees])
(My opinion is to leave painting until after the SVA)

Two wipers is fine for SVA Three just give a slightly better clearance IMO
