Stafford Photographs Please

I’ve booked to run a show on Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th September 2008 at the Stafford showground.

Problem is that, because I was banned from it for the past decade, I haven’t got any photographs to put in a news item.

Can anybody help?

Crap as Donnington?...trust me it's worse....the last one I went to...well....it's ok if you like buying second hand clothes. There were quite a few stalls that had nothing to do with cars....at all. The first time I went was back in the '80s...it was impressive then.

No, it’s not dusty. In fact it’s lovely – just like Stoneleigh, but smaller. Neatly mown grass areas between a grid of tarmac roadways on the outside. The hall itself is spacious and light and (provided I can fill it) will be a perfect venue for what I reckon will become the benchmark for all future kit car shows. Also on the outside is a camping area for those who want to make a weekend of it.

It was awful because it wasn’t fully supported and neither was it properly advertised. All because of the past petty politics which are now resolved. My policy is ‘open house’. The other two magazines will be very welcome to attend in exchange for a couple of advertisements – which kills two birds with one stone… Everybody will be there and it’ll be fully advertised.

Clive
Please ask in an e-mail or PM. It’s in the past and doesn’t need any more airing in public.

Den. I wish you luck Donington this year was p*$$ poorly organised and frankly deserves to fade into history. Will there be any facilities open on the Friday and Saturday Nights? Bar etc?

Den,

Please can you or Tom send me details when you are ready, as I would be interested to support.

Sounds good to me as it is on the doorstep.

I like the sound of camping and bar facilities, it could be a real social event.

Thanks Chris,
I could have done this last year or this year, but I didn’t want to stand accused (again) of causing trouble in the show scene.
However, having spoken to many who were there and having read comments on forums like this, it seemed obvious to me that Donington breathed its last breath and choked on its own dust this year.
So, my hope is that I’ll avoid the old accusations, recriminations and rhetoric from my old sparring partner and his disciples.
My aim is simply to run a good show and completely forget the has-been show it’ll be replacing.

Exactly what happens is entirely open at this stage. Doors will open on Friday afternoon for exhibitors to set-up. I suppose some campers will arrive then too. I haven’t considered what will or will not be offered by way of facilities on the Friday evening. You could set up a hospitality marquee if you want!
On the Saturday evening, I’ll lay-on something for the visitors. Probably a BBQ, some beer and bopping music in one of the satellite buildings (or in this marquee of yours?)
Frankly, I’ve got a wide open canvass which I’m intending to completely fill between now and next September. I’m excited! Reckon it’s going to be really good!

I'd rather a couple of decent shows each year, rather than half a dozen failing to meet the grade. I'd certainly be up for this, and 50 min drive from Manchester would be great to bring my nipper along to camp over.

Did the overnight thing at Stonleigh and had a good time, but too long a drive for the Cobra with a 4 year old - hope there is a pub or something open at night time. Think I went to the site a few years ago, decent ground and about time we got something north of Birmingham...don't suppose anyone would ever dare actually doing a northen show that wasn't so far north it ended up in Scotland.
