Snake bite?

What is it about the cobra that makes life more interesting?

I bought a rolling chassis 5 months ago and have put most of my time and effort into rebuilding the chassis and finishing off the car as quick as I possibly can.
Don't get me wrong I have not rushed the process, and believe the workmanship is quality, but why can't I take my time and do the build over maybe 12 months?
Every day I am looking for nearest bargains on d-bay or planning what I could do to the cobra next, after all I have to adore the loving wife who understands why I have to crack on with the build..... The sooner I've built it the sooner the gardening can be done again!
We have a local club in the pipeline (Newhall cobra club) with a good friend and the father in law (Big A) both with AK's.
If I am like this now, then what am I going to be like when the sva is passed? My cobra is an addictive passion, does anyone else share this.
Regards

Just hope your Cobra is the addiction and not the building of it. You could find yourself selling it as soon as it's done and starting another. There is no harm in this if you are not married........But you are!!!

Yes it is definately the cobra addiction
I have really enjoyed the build process and made it to my liking, but I could not do another....... yet!
But it is interesting how much of a major hobby it can be, I just can't wait to drive it... thats my problem.

Driving a cobra is cool, but the build is the true hobby.

Once it's done, you will find yourself making excuses to modify things... when what you really want to do is build another cobra. What's stopping me is money. I'll never have the money to do it again. If I ever do somehow come into enough cash, I'll get a stonking big V8 this time around.

I'll have to ask you lot what engine and transmission to get though, as I don't even know what the numbers mean, let alone what cam... and what the hell is a sideoiler anyway? LOL

I need a serious petrolhead education

Hehe... sort of. I know a bit about modern UK Fords (I work for them) and I know quite a bit about my Jag V12 having taken it apart many times. I have never owned, driven or even worked on a chevy or any other V8

The cam and sideoiler thing... well, there are so many cams that I wouldn't know what one to choose for what engine, and would worry about things going bang. Probably would have to get a complete engine (big one of course) Sideoilers are... something to do with external oil pump???

Mark

..........the side oiler motors have their main bearings fed with oil from the side instead of the conventional way of feeding from the top middle. This is to help with lube under arduous corning conditions when racing. Basically!

Really? So they are for track only then... hmmm. Just out of interest you understand (couldn't buy one even if I wanted to) what would be the most powerful V8 cobra replica you know of? It would have to be usable power though, not one of those silly ones on Utube that need wheeliebars on the back LOL. I guess we would be talking 450-500 bhp? My V12 is around the 350 mark.
