Gearbox Advice

Hi,
I have been researching the market for DAX / AK / RAM and SR Cobras for the last couple of months and have picked up a lot of good info from lots of people. However, I am short of advice regarding whick box to look for. The car I buy must be have Ford or Chevy V8 and I have seen them around with a variety of boxes. Can anyone help with advice on the pro's & cons of the choices?

Like most things it depends on what state of tune you are going to.

If you are using a stock engine of 250 -300 bhp then a T5 would be fine.
Over and above that you may want to look at a Tremec 3550, and over that a Tremec TKO or TKO II.
If you want it all then Maybe a 6 speed T56.

Hi Kev,
Thanks for this advice. I notice you have a 383ci Chevy with Tremec TKO. I am going to look at at exactly this at the weekend. The car is a dax, and looks like a top spec car. 383ci with Treme TKO box.
Any advice on what to look for. I need to ensure that I use my head and not my heart!!!

Looks like my missus is trying to sell my car on the QT.

All the usual stuff like check for overall build quality, proper registration and try to get it on a ramp and have a good look underneath.
