Cobra versus Viper

I just bought a copy of the latest Classic and Sportscar magazine as there is a very interesting feature comparing the performance of an AC Cobra with a Dodge Viper and a TVR Griffith. Looks very comprehensive and worth a read. I am thinking of buying a Viper this year does anyone have any experience of one as I would be interested to hear the pro's and con's.

Hi Tony, that one tested and for sale by Robert Hughes must be one of the best early ones left, such a low mileage.
I recall reading somewhere that body repairs are STRATOSPHERICALLY costly; like, £20k for a front end.
Although mechanically, that V-10 motor sounds unstressed and the gearing is very high, and they certainly are rapid.
Traction in the wet scary, hood abysmal and leaks.. a most dramatic looking car though, good luck!
There must be an owners club over here?

If things are meant to be simple, then I wont do it! Hence why I have a Viper

I agree with you the early Viper is the only one to go for. It must be the side pipes that attract me to it.

Scary traction and leaky hood sounds just what I am used to with the Cobra. There is a UK Viper Club which is part of Pistonheads but they are only pro Viper which is understandable. The repairs might be costly but the insurance is very reasonable. I have been quoted £430 fully comp but then I am in the same age group at MikeT
