Buying / leasing a car

Hi all,
I'm interested in finally getting a decent car and considering something along the lines of a Chrysler 300C Touring or maybe a BMW 530d Touring. Does anyone have any experience of car leasing companies? Is it worth it, or would you just buy one?

I opt out from a company car and get a private lease instead to avoid Greedy Gordon's tax bill.

I have agreed mileage (I take 30,000 pa) with service, tyres, road tax, breakdown etc all paid for, the model, engine, colour and trim I want, with whatever options I want. When I checked before originally ordering the lease was approx £300 per month cheaper than if I had bought the same model from a main dealer.

I'll never own the car, but then again if you buy a car what's it worth anyway by the time you've finished paying for it? Not counting my toys (cob, bikes etc) I haven't bought my own car now for 15+ years....

If you are going to lease, look out for deals. Lease companies sometimes get excess stock and offer out cars at discount. On the other hand if demand is too high for other models then they consider it a risk and raise the price for new customers after that car. I noticed recently some very good offers on a Volvo XC90 and also an E class. Good luck....

Question

That's a very strange first post on a Cobra forum.

Does this smell a little fishy to anyone else?.

Yes BMW and Merc and Audi have everything as extra, and the dealer sales people are a right bunch!
However, of all the modern cars a small to medium size german will depreciate a lot slower than the Chrysler, they dont discount em for nothing...and wait until you see a chrysler service bill, makes a bmw look free to run...one of my partners chrysler grand mini bus thingy goes in for service on the button, doesnt do big miles, and every time its £600-1100 minimum. He has a big cardboard box at home full of things that fall off as well...

I like the 300C, precisely because it does not look like yet another boring German saloon. And because they dare sell it with a HEMI! Vive La Difference! (and ftf).
