For Sale...how much..no idea

Hi All

All the best and all that, decided to sell but haven't a clue what to ask. I know captain DB will value for crate of beer but if I had the time to take it down there then I wouldn't be selling it, I love it but aren't using it.

http://www.cobraclub.com/gallery/sho...puser=246&sl=w

Any ideas? And by the way, I'm not a polisher, this needs more work but the only thing that isn't new or reconditioned is the heater matrix. No weather gear though and it hasn't been sprayed. Receipts for easily 22K+ if I can find em all. Give me a clue and it will be in the classifieds next week. So far I have found 9Ks worth of receipts but yet to find the big ones, the kit was bought for 6K plus including tub/chassis/gel coat, stainless work, then finished by AK for around £5,500 + SVA costs, then the geabox blew, £600 for strengthening & recon, engineering work was around £600. I do have these somewhere.

Approx 1K on clock and it goes well, OK it's no 400BHP monster but I was aiming for 350bhp and bought the shopping list provided by Repower, Flattops, full ARP kit, Ed RPMS, Decked, Line Bored, Balanced by EDA. Added at a later date, I Beams, lightened flywheel, steel bellhousing, etc, etc, full details will be in the ad.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Warren

PS. Don't worry I won't be offended.

If the car is as good as it looks in the photo's you should be able to realise your investment, wait for the spring and some decent weather.

That's just it mate, I should probably put a £3/4K paint job on it & £2K worth of weather gear and then stick it on the market but I think peeps will see the potential. I just think that 25K/30K cars with full weather & paint take too long to sell.

It's well sorted and 99% new, but a grafter with an eye for detail would add value.

Ahh, maybe i'm underselling myself, I've seen some crap out there when I first looked.

Most of those who want to do the work described would build a part built or complete kit. The market you appear to be looking at do not want to spend the extra cash or time. The Cob would need to be considerably less than a high spec finished car so you may only fetch £16k for it at best. This depends on what it looks like in the flesh, registration, spec. and how badly a would be Cob owner wants one. As said by Mike and Dave, this is the wrong time to sell. This is only my opinion so take it as you like.

Hi Ian

No sweat mate, and agree with you completely, car is correctly registered I sent it down to AK to finish and SVA to make sure.

If I walk away with 18K then I can live with it, I suppose, reluctantly, but I would probably keep it and think about getting a hardtop that I can get my crippled ass into.

I've seen some supperbly finished cars not make money and I will admit mine is NOT supperbly finished, the dash is vinly, AK had to cut it on the passenger side to increase the radius. I bought new vinly (how do you spell that?) I'm kind of at that stage where I chuck some money at it, (5K to have it well sorted) and then sell at a premium or let someone have a bargain and they can do it themselves.

Warren

What am I talking about, if I was spending 5K I'd probably blow it on the engine.......

Hi Warren.
I tend to only value for insurance purposes. Valuing for selling is like playing pin the tail on the donkey at this time of year.
Currently, cars to a reasonable spec are fetching about £20-£21K( With an engine to your spec).
You will have to offer something extra in addition to the cost of painting, trimming and finishing etc. to make your car attractive to potential buyers(There aren't many about at the moment).......Unless.......You find someone who can't afford to go for a fully finished car and needs a cheaper car to start with.
Good luck.

Warren, you're underselling your car IMHO. Mike got just under £20k in October and his was a similar spec to yours apart from being painted. I would wait till the spring if I was you though, absolutely nothing selling at the moment.

mmmmm... I think I will sit and get the listing sorted and take some more piccys for the gallery then anyone can see what they are getting.

I'm not in any great hurry and at least people will be aware of it.

Cheers all for the input.
