Definitive answer time again

Guys,

More on Engines.

Having decided the 2000yr blocked motor Im going to look at will require cats and efi to get through SVA I have formulated a plan.

1) Buy a cut pre 1980's 302 and fit for SVA. Reg and emissions set by this block.
2) Due to ease of GD body removal change to the 2000yr motor afterwards, with the my old one blew up answer if asked.

Question: Will this work?

Cheers

Andy

Good move

You will have to let the DVLA know you have a new engine and the relevant engine number. The MOT man might be a car nut (they often are) and recognise the engine as new and ask questions, but then again might not. Probably better off just to keep with the pre 1972 block. You can fit injection etc to it and strengthen it up and it would then be better in a lot of respects than a 2000 engine.

Call me, number in the mag if you want to chat it through.

My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere.

RE: Definitive answer time again

I started out with a fully street legal Chevy 305 (we got different rules in Sweden, we are limited by effect (kW) but can pay an environmental fee of £500 to go without cats etc.). I almost tricked myself for a whole year that the injected 305 would be enough. It is now history and is replaced by a rebuilt Chevy 350 that is almost finished by now. But I am already planning a future build of a high reving Chevy 327... :9

Let face it, your Cobra is a journey that will never end, and that is really the joy of it...
