Thumbs up Gardner Douglas

Without getting into a bun fight as to who,s cob is best etc,has anyone had any probelms building up a GD.I like the idea of the chassis set up and body construction but wonder if they are fairly straight forward to build in terms of build manuals /support etc.(Im just trying to research the different builds/models available before making a final decision as to which way to go!)

No bun fight, I like the MK4 GD, but if you want an easy build you can't go wrong with an AK.

Haven't heard anything bad against the GD.

I think they are all as easy to build as each other now. I have witnessed Pilgrims and an AK being built and have built my own Dax. They all have there easy and difficult bits.

If you like the GD chassis and body then go for it and enjoy the build.

Craig.

Craig,Thanks for that,and MikeT.
I must admit I like the idea of being able to remove the body in about an hour for major servicing etc.Maybe not as authentic as some but has alot going for it!

The only problem I having building my MKIV is having a full time job that gets in the way

But seriously.... no probs.... all goes together very well. Especially if you get GD to fit the body panels and polish the gel coat for you although I suspect this may be considered gay in some circles

However I think the hour is a little optimistic, I'm sure there are some chaps with completed GD's who will verify that.

Cheers,

Simon.

Easy peasy, I can't think of anything that could be described as difficult during a typical build. An excellent kit.

Erm I wouldn't call yours a typical build, even though it has turned out as a stunning looking car.

I wasn't referring to mine as a typical build but having a few fellas building them near me the standard build is straight forwards. Mine only became more involved as I made it that way. To be honest it wasn't difficult but did take a lot of thought, research, time and planning!

Ive builta dax, a GD, and then rebodied the GD

Dax was OK few bits needed persuading to fit, inner arches needed tweeking to fit, exhaust headers needed a little persuasion to fit, body definately needed paint

GD was a "easy bolt together meccano kit" in comparison, nothing needed fiddling with body can be polished easy, no real messing with shut lines,

An hour for the body removal........ possible, but only with a couple of accomplished spanner wielding mates!!

There is very little need to remove the body, access is pretty reasonable without doing that
