POLL: What if...

Now don't get too excited, this really is only me wondering about what a freind of mine suggested, but...

What if I were to say that I wanted to raffle my V12 DAX (Supertubed chassis and 9000 miles on the clock). There would need to be 1600 tickets at £10 each. Would there be enough interest here, bearing in mind my car is a V12 powered cob?

This question came up at work today when, browsing the other forum (Snaketorque), I read an old post that mentioned a V12 cob on sale that had remained unsold for a long time. I told my freind that this site had a lot of members you see.

Anyway, this might be a possibility in the future, so consider this post as testing the waters

A v12 cobra`s better than no cobra , and at a tenner a ticket it`s worth a punt . Don`t know if you would sell 1600 tickets through this forum though .

I still love my car, despite is age, but we all know a lot of people don't feel the same way as me about DAx or about V12 As for the 1600 ticket thing... yeah I know what you're saying, but I couldn't let it go for less tickets than that, and the draw (if it ever happened) would only be done after the last ticket sold.

I have no idea if there are other similar ways of doing it. I often see cars on eBay, but then eBay takes a cut

This may open a floodgate of abuse and sarcasm, but what the hell, I will ask anyway ~ what is wrong with a V12?

I would buy a ticket for a tenner, even if just to lower the odds for everybody else, I've new won ouwt on a raflle (is that a double negative)

£10 for the opp of a Cobra, hell I'll go all the way and buy two tickets, snobbery about DAX and V12 aside its hardly a big risk is it, ive spent more than that in some very suspect ways in Thailand......... oops have i said too much

I'd probably shell out a tenner for the chance to win it. I would want to know and would want proof that the draw was done properly and fairly though.

I seem to remember a few years ago seeing an advert in an international car magazine doing a raffle for a brand new Ferrari. It was also advertised on the TV I think.
Tickets were about £10 and the tickets were available to purchase for one year. This was advertised in various car magazines over the world.
Now, say they sold 100K tickets which I don't think would be too hard to do. They then have £1 million sitting in the bank less a few grand for advertising costs.

When the draw is done all they have to do is go the winners local Ferrari dealer and buy a car for £250K or so and walk away with one happy customer and a very happy bank account.

Worth thinking about...

Craig.

May be wrong, but I think you will require a gaming licence to run a raffle of this scale.

You will also have to set a date for the end of the raffle, if you've only sold 500 tickets at the end, you will be legally obliged to let it go to the winning ticket on the said date.

What if your friend was amazingly the lucky guy to win it, he could then sell it on and you coul;d ahve a good divvy up at the pub afterwards.

Think its called fraud though
