I think he has given up!

Not given up yet but the person at Stonleigh who we need to get permission from is proving somewhat elusive, Mr Bling is going to keep trying next week we will have to wait and see if he has any luck.

Update on the situation regarding the rolling road;

There is regrettably a problem with red tape which I am trying to overcome.
The Organisors, Grosvenor Exhibitions, gave the green light for this event to proceed in principal several months ago when we originally asked for permission to stage the event. The Health and Safety department at Stoneleigh Showground were aware of our intentions at the outset, but have recently voiced some concerns about the public liability and have subsequently asked for a risk assessment and method statement from Sid’s Tune Shop who is supplying the dyno kit. Sid has tried on many occasions to contact them to ask what specifically they require and comply with their requests. The main H&S guy at Stoneleigh is very difficult to get hold of; he only has a land line / ansa fone. Sid has left numerous messages asking them to reply. I have done likewise but we are not getting any co-operation. I finally managed to speak to the H&S guy on Wednesday last week and he said that no one has tried to contact him!? I said to the contrary we had tried on numerous occasions but he was non committal.

I feel that we have been ‘stalled for time’ with various red tape, as I have now had a phone call from the H&S at Stoneleigh only this morning with a separate issue;

Apparantly, at the eleventh hour, there has been a noise abatement notice served against Stoneleigh Showground by Warwick District Council. This was due to the Historic Motorsport Event in March which caused some noise issues with the local residents. This means that revving of engines will be prohibited. I tried to fight our corner by saying it would only be a short burst for a minute, every 30 minutes but it seems they are scared of the council who they say have the power to stop the show from going ahead if they do not comply. I asked about the Caterham guys and there skid pan and he said it was also highly unlikely that they would be allowed their event either.

I am really sorry to relay this news to you all, but I have done everything in my power to organise this event, and I am still in negotiation with the organisers at Stoneleigh but it seems we may have to face the fact that this event will not go ahead as planned.

I will post more information as and when it is received

Ref the above:-

Is the query from Sid because he does not already have Method Statement and Risk Assessment docs and is unsure of what they are? If so there may be club members close to his premises who are familiar with the requirements & could view the dyno equipment & help draft them.

Revving of engines, as such, is unlikely to be the real issue. The Council may well have imposed a noise limit but that will probably be based on ?? db measured at source or specific point(s) at the site - maybe at the perimeter. Bearing in mind the Historic Racers may have been running some machinery with little or no silencing, the imposed limit may be achievable. Perhaps WDC Environmental Department could provide more details if Stoneleigh themselves are unable to do so?

Tell the organisers that if you don't get the go-ahead we will boycot the show! That means a lot less cars and paying spectators through the gates! That might make them get their finger out!

Oh dear.
Had a few problems with this ourselfs at Bromley Pageant. So at 15:00 AND 15:15pm the TVR stand and ourselfs had a mass rev up for 60secs which was heard over 1.5 miles away.

As always at these events it's the silly boys coming and going that cause residents to complain NOT the the people actually there.
I do hope you do get the go ahead, I was looking forward to watching this.
It would be a shame after all the effort involved in organising it.

Well that's me not coming then, I was only going to try and get there to see this.

Have been unable to commit but have been watching the growing list and thinking ah what the hell. But if it ain't happening then I won't bother. It's a shame really as the manufacturers will be financially committed.

Chris, knowing the area it probably applies to all the time up there, look at the issues Brands Hatch has had over recent years !!!!!
You buy a house near a race circuit then complain to the local authority about the noise, and as potential voters they bend over literally to ease your pain.......Muppetts.

Hear what you're saying Andy! Most of the complaints to Brands (and Castle Coombe for that matter) come from people who have lived there for 30+ years though! Go Figure. Much like those living in Staines or Hayes that complain about aircraft noise
