I used Birmingham for my SVA, took the route through Nuneaton, pass Seaswood pool, through Fillongley and Meridan. Good route and chance to play with the car a bit

I used Birmingham for mine also, very fair and sensible. It would be an idea to book the car in for a pre mot/ mot check prior to SVA so you can bed the brakes in, check headlight alignment, etc.

Make sure the yank supplied safety critical components such as glass, seat belts, tyres etc have the correct EU approved mark on them, as they will be scrutinised and also check the radius on locks, interior and side mirrors etc. The car will quite rightly sail through all the engineering hurdles, its only likely to fail on a missing E mark or an incorrect radius.

Cheers,
Tony

Hi Tony,

I don't believe items need to have E marks on them for the SVA as long as they perform as required.
I doubt I have an E mark anywhere on my car I've got plenty of "K" marks though. The Kirkham "K" is engraved on all manner it items, especially on the suspension components.

Yeh, but, no, but........

The difficulty will be providing evidence to show that the parts perform to the same level.

Paul,

I'm not trying to be a pain but you will have to play the SVA game when it comes to test time. I don't think the Kirkham marketing machine has reached the Brum SVA testing centre yet.

As an example if the windscreen does not have the Britsh Standard marking, or a ECE E11 marking or an EEC E11 marking you will have to prove that "it conforms to to any national or international standard" equivalent to the E11, or it has to be "one of the standards listed on the Annex on Non European standards and bear the relevant marking supplied by the manufacturer".

Is your winsdcreen specs listed on the Annex and is your windscreen marked as such?

The same principle will go for quite a few of the components you have on the car.

It would a crying shame if your car didn't pass first time as it should just because of a simple lack of listed specification. I suppose this is the part of the buying process that Hawk manages and thereby claims their margin.

Cheers,

Tony

You don't have to.
If those tiny tail lights that were on your old Dax passed then pretty much anything invented later will fly through. It's the "Max Power" stuff that can easliy get thrown out.

Tony.

No. They have no beam pattern.....And are useless anyway.
If I was fortunate enough to be able to afford a Kirkham of my own I wouldn't fit them to it. Those old Mini sealed beam junk are better than tripods.
