Hi Guys,

This is good news.

Had another email from the DFT today, its a high level comparison of the SVA and new bIVA.

Ive attached it along with the other docs Ive got here on this sticky thread.

Or alternatively you assign the job over to a company to complete, they cannot use Cat ‘C’ as it does not use parts from a previous UK registered donor so it has to be put through as Cat. ‘L’ - but of course this means the car will then need an emission friendly engine.

One might also wish to consider the potential Insurance implications – If a car has been wrongly SVA’d and is involved in an accident resulting in a large claim, the underwriters could wish to examine thoroughly the vehicles particulars in seek of any counter claim. If their findings were to expose any doubt as to the vehicles description/specification one could be arguing for a very long time over the payout. Think on!
Interesting points there I think, especially about the invalid Insurance

Wind wings, sun visors, Motolita steering wheel and wheel spinners. !!!!There's plenty to consider already....Not to mention wearing a 240 volt electric blanket.

No different to a Modded Tin Top provided to declare mods when asked on the proposal form. I was asked if mine was modified and the simple "Yes" killed the conversation dead.

Modification is one thing, the issue discussed above is an invalid SVA, which in itself is slightly more concerning and potentially serious than a modified tintop with modifications.

Insurance companies will try and wriggle out of a claim if they can.

Exactly. Which is why I quoted Daves post rather than Tonys

Ahhh, its late and I am tired.

But yes, I agree, modded tintops and incorrect SVAs are a world apart, lets face it, if the Insurance company got a sniff that the car was not SVA'ed properly then in their eyes, the car should not have been on the road in the first place and therefore the Insurance is null and void, thanks very much for your premiums over the last x years, however we won't pay out.

Ouch, thats anywhere between 25K to 50K down the drain.

I know how much hassle I had when I claimed for my car. First they said I didn't have a green card, therefore I shouldn't have taken the car outside the UK. Despite the fact that I spoke to BB and asked about a green card prior to going and they said they were not needed anymore.

Then they tried to say I was racing in the cannonball, despite the fact that it was February and I was driving a car with no roof and I was on the way back from a show, and despite the fact that there wasn't a cannonball running at the time etc etc etc.

I can only imagine what they would say to an incorrectly registered car.

Funny how when I made the point about cars modified post-SVA and Insurance invalidity some years back, no-one agreed with me...............

Wilf, so you've declared those spinners and windwings etc to your insurer?
