RE: Classic & Sports car action day - 30th August Clive Quite a number of us are going through the Bristol club and from the Wessex or Dorset or who ever is run by Keith Fuller. I went last year had a great time and broke my track virginity ( very poorly I might add). The biggest problem was that I spent most of my 5 laps staring at the rearview mirror trying to stay out of the way of other more experienced people. There were 2 guys in a BMW M5 with race tyres, roll cage etc, who absolutly f****d past me several times ! It would be better with segregation between novices etc but it's cheap and fun and some great cars on display. Come over and see us if you get there.:tu

RE: Classic & Sports car action day - 30th August I have been to a few action days at Castle Combe, personally I have had no trouble, but then I don't contest corners and anybody remotely quick I just let by. However, I have seen some nasty accidents at Quarry, one guy in an Evo VII was travelling far too fast into Avon Rise, had no space to brake and went straight into the barriers at Quarry writing off his dad's Evo, the car was a mess. Another incident (Not on the same day) saw a Sierra cossie blow its engine at Avon Rise dumping oil all over the track, a Golf came up behine him and spun on the oil, a Prelude saw all of this and braked and a Caterfield thing went straight into the back of the Prelude as the driver was not paying attention at all. Personally I think they let far too many people on the track of far too mixed ability, but if you take it easy and give everyone lots of space you should be fine. Hope I havent put too many people off. Anybody who wants to offer a ride, I would gratefully accept }(

RE: Classic & Sports car action day - 30th August Contrary Mary Clive, am interested in going which will be my forth track day but not at this venue. Paul has put me off a little, sounds like Donnington @ one of there Kit Car Shows which I would never attended again for the same reasons he stated!!! Total Wallies attending (Boy racers!) Eric

RE: Classic & Sports car action day - 30th August I think I may have made it sound worse than it is. I have had a great time everytime I have been, but I just wanted to make the point that its a little more hectic than a properly organised trackday. There is usually a very good selection of car clubs and trade stands and a you will see a lot of different cars on the track. A good place to watch the action is to stand by the corner of Avon rise, then you can see cars coming down the straight and going through Quarry. If you keep an eye out for other drivers you should be fine. Cheers, Paul

RE: Classic & Sports car action day - 30th August Every time I have been to this event there has been some kind of incident on the track. The problem is that the organisers allow all levels of experience on circuit at the same time. This is bad enough without the having to contend with the boy racers who have little regard for other peoples pride and joys and drive with enthusiasm well beyond there ability. This event normally attracts a wide variety of vehicles and is well worth a visit. My advice is to stay off the circuit. Regards Kevin

RE: Classic & Sports car action day - 30th August Contrary Mary Clive will be going mate, suggest a place to meet. Will asses the boy racer situation when I get there!! Also will give me an opportunity to get the old stick waved under my exhaust before I splash out on a few laps and also in preparation for Bassingbourn (Royston) on the 27th of next month. May take some video of you spinning if your good with brake judder!!!! Eric

| RE: Classic & Sports car action day - 30th August Eric See you there, I'm going come rain or shine, don't think I'll be allowed on the track though, unless I change the exhaust.
