Chevy Engine No'

Hi guys,
Can anyone please tell me where my engine number is?, i'v looked all over and the only stamped number seems to be on a flat area near the water pump! it is so faint I can't read it, but a mate recons it reads K119876C ?? can't find anything like that on our list so am a bit puzzled. any help gratefully received. It's a 350 small block.

Cheers , GONZO, < the puzzled.> :} :} :} :} :} :} :} :} :} :f

RE: Chevy Engine No'

the number you need is 'cast' when the block was made. it's at the back of the engine ( bell housing end). Above the oil filter...

does that make sense..?

The number you have found is the serial no for your engine i think.

regards

forgot to say, it's almost diagonally opposite to the number you've already found.

RE: Chevy Engine No'

Yep on the engine flange near bellhousing on pass side. facing the sky. Gives you casting no. which can verify the era not the exact date. Vin/engine code is the one you already mention. and if leggible should give you more exact info. Also there should be a cast date code on the flange again but on the driver side flange. ie, K 01 05 Strangley mine never had this. Then look up on some search engines under 'chevy engine id date codes' and some internet sites will help you.

Graham

Block casting no. is the SVA requirement for emmissions testing.

RE: Chevy Engine No'

Hi guys,
Thanks for the info' boys, I was worried that the SVA bloke would not accept the stamped number as it is so indistinct, but if they only need the cast number, I can see that OK. I will try to find more on the internet.

cheers , GONZO, <the infomed.>:tu :tu :tu :tu
