stupid dizzy question

I don't pretend to know all about everything . I'm one of those people who have limited knowledge and can be extremely dangerous given the wrong end of a wrench.
However I do try and I learn something everyday.
Could someone share their knowledge and explain where I look on my dizzy to find out what it is as I want to replace points, rotor and con and cap.
I believe it's bog standard ford (but I don't know for sure) so at least it's the right end of the engine.
Obviously I need to identify numbers and stuff rather than phone not knowing and buying wrong or duff stuff.
TA in advance.

.....It may be at the end of the engine that gets all that water from the bonnet scoop in the rain, but why has it got dark-age mechanical stuff in it?

Have a look here:
Ford Small Block Ignition System

If it works well, THEN DON'T FUCK WITH IT................never ever let me down in five years. Don't particularly want anything else if it works.

Looked into pertronics a while back, but money being as it is I just want to freshen the old girl up a bit.(the car that is)

Ian
Took a butchers and I think it is possibly the Boss 302 (but again not sure)
It does say that they are all the same so I'll buy one and see, I suppose.
Great link thanks.
