A Jaguar 420?

Am I correct that the 420 parts are the same (if not slightly earlier) as the XJ6 donor parts needed by many kits?

Any help appreciated.

Michael

RE: A Jaguar 420?

Michael, I believe you are correct but if I were I'd check with the kit manufacturer that the bits will work.
Or contact a Jaguar classic spares agent they should be able to guide you.

RE: A Jaguar 420?

Thanks Kev,

I'll ring Dax today, reason for asking is that I have "bought" a 420 with log book and need to make sure I have no issues when coming to the SVA.

I've bought a non-assembled chassis from Dax so just need to be covered.

Regards

Michael

RE: A Jaguar 420?

You should have no problems in that the 420 is same mechanicals and underpinnings as the S Type, forerunner to the XJ.

Indeed if you have been fortunate to get the 420 complete rather than in "bits" the rear suspension assembly , I believe, is already narrow enough for the "deep dished look" so you dont have the shorten the driveshafts or suspension arms.

My hazy memory also seems to remember that the Stype ( 420)came with LSD as standard.

Of course just make sure you fit the engine into the 420 to check that it runs before you dismantle and scrap the donor.

Cheers,

Tony :tu
