Yes I have loads of experience of a V12 Dax, not much of it good.

It looked fab - open the bonnet and it's all engine, best thing I ever did was replace it with a V8!!!!

What would you like to know?

Clive

Chewitt, welcome to the site. Jag V12. Hmmmm. Quite a few around and if buying they command a slightly lower price. Big engine and costly to rebuild with adequate power. Lovely turbine smooth power delivery but have a bit drink problem. Can look the dogs with a set of Webber down draft carbs though.

As for Stoneleigh I would expect a few to be up for sale. There normally is at shows so have a good look at the kit car club stands as well as the CRC.

Best of luck.

Oh yes!

Sadly mine won't be for V12 money though.

Welcome aboard by the way.

well
pros v cons of a v12 - it is the one hinted at above so any clues as to what to look for. Fairly mechnically minded but haven't owned a kit before long chain of lotus/porsche/bikes and a couple of ropey "classics" in the past.

is it a good starting poit? and then I suppose the whole can of "which kit" worms - Dax/Pilgrim or do I judge on build and engine

i may admit to being a bit excited at finally plumping for a cobra so........reality is a good check!

I have to agree with Clive having had a V12 and then change it to a amercian V8 there is no comparison at all. Also the amount of fuel used is similar but you get much more power from a V8. Unless the car you are looking at is cheap I would walk away. One thing to look at is if it is a V12 then it would have been put on the road before the SVA and so make sure that it is registered correctly.

thanks guys

any more pointers? any one actually rate or even like v12's?

any views on southern roadcraft kits - yep that one on ebayland?

you can probably see that the budget has some limitations so is v12 a good point to develop later?

Hi Chew. Both of the Southern Roadcrafts on Ebay are registered as Jags! So to be avoided at all cost! The £15k one says it's been stored since 1993 so you would have NO chance of getting it registered properly without recent MOTs. Likewise (and I mean no disrespect to current V12 owners) most V12's will be either early Dax's or Viper's and the likelyhood is that they are also incorrectly registered as Daimlers or Jags. Better IMO to look for a lower spec V8 car and upgrade it as and when you can. It will still be worth what you pay for it in 3,4,5 years time,
