Insurance

I was wondering if some of the members wouldn't mind telling me how much they paid for their insurance on their car. I don't mean to be rude by asking, but a freind of mine has just bought a 911 Porshe and his insurance is £250 as the car is classed as a classic. I have been told that kit car insurance is also reletively cheap in comparisson to normal car insurance. If you do respond to this post, could you also include relevent details, ie. type of kit, limited milage, engine size, value insured for.

I hope that know one is affended by this request.

Thanks

Blackford Bloor, £420, 25K agreed value, 3000 miles per annum.

I got an agreed valuation quote from Adrian Flux which was cheaper than Blackford Bloor, but they wouldn't issue a policy unless I had recognised immobiliser fitted. Have you got one fitted?

RE: Insurance

Mike,

Yes is the answer to that. I have a mate who fits them for a living and I built it into my loom while I was wiring the car. He then came round and 'inspected' the installation and issued me the certificate of installation. 3 circuit imobilisation (fuel pump, ignition and starter motor). Key fob chip proximity de-activation and auto setting.

RE: Insurance

£350 for a 302 engined gd £25k value 30 year old male main driver and one extra driver(father) sounds silly but adding a more mature driver to your policy may drop the premium slightly as i have learned in past experiences! oh and 3000 miles a year

RE: Insurance

Nick,

Did you get any quotes for a larger engine? I'm 26 and have been given £860 from Backford Bloor, fully comp, 3000 miles...

I thought capacity didn't make that much difference...

RE: Insurance

Mine is with Backford Bloor.
I opted for build cover first, then upgraded to on-road cover prior to SVA.

Build cover was about £230.
3000 miles £502
5000 miles £572
7500 miles £750ish.

That's for a GD427 Euro. I've opted for a value of £30k (which is the highest they do - and about what it cost to build) but it's on market value at the moment, until I get my form certified by GD for agreed value.

Simon.
