AK a credit to the kit car industry

I just had to make this posting after speaking to John from AK sport cars. I spoke to him for approx 1/2 hour about their kit. He was very helpfull and when I told him that I hadn't decided on which kit to buy yet, he encouraged me to go and see other manufacturers like GD before making my choice. He even went as far to complement the GD kit and never once did he bad mouth it. He gave me the impression that he didn't want me to pick AK unless I was completely happy with my choice, and if I chose a different manufacturer then so be it. John also offered to give me a list of all their suppliers so that I could save myself some money by not going through them and paying a handling charge, so doing themselves out of some profit, are these guys for real? I am fast becoming an AK fan!!!

So thanks again John and I look forward to meeting you and all AK owners that are attending the Donnington show in September.

PS Could AK owners please tell me how they found the build and after sales service, if my experience is anything to go by, you AK owners seem to have made a wise choice !!!

PPS I also spoke to Les at John Gordon Jag Spares, what a nice and helpfull guy, I think I'll be using them for my donor package.

RE: AK a credit to the kit car industry

I went with AK and I must say that they have been fantastic! Mind that I live in Sweden and they still manage to give me first class support. They managed to produce the papers needed by the Swedish equivalence of SVA. They immediately corrected a small error with the left hand drive steering rack as soon as it was discovered (back in Sweden) and sent me replacement parts for free. The list goes on and on. They have always been professional, helpful and friendly. I am sure one happy AK client...

Lee.

I`m a tad biased as I`ve built one , but the build was very straight forward all the parts fitted first time and the overall quality was first class. The gel-coat polishes up very well if you don`t want to paint straight away and all the suppliers on the list are easy to deal with and deliver on time.

The after sales service is quite simply one of the best you`ll find, Ken and John will give you as much attention as you need to help you out.No doubt the other AK owners here will confirm all the above, there`s also an article on the demonstrator in the Sept issue of Kit-Car mag.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Tony

Lee

The total AK experience starts from that initial phone call and it only gets better as the build progresses, even though mine has been on the road for 15 months I still ring up the boys for a chat and even though they are bombed out with work they still find the time to have a chat.

The build is very straight forward, everything on the chassis fits where its supposed to and the body is pre-fitted, so when you replace the body after chassis build up it goes back in exactly in the right place.

The ride and handling are second to none, I feel safer throwing the AK into fast corners than I do in my not so old BMW and apparently with the power steering option it gets even better.

I sorted all my Jag bits through Les at John Gordon, excellent bloke and company to deal with.

I shall be at Donnington with my Cob, if you would like a chat, one of the lads at AK will point me out, can't miss me really, I'm the ugly one with a bald head.

RE: AK a credit to the kit car industry

Same as all above.

For the money, best kit available. Most helpful and obliging company producing replicas today. Tell them what you want and they will get it to fit, and not charge you extra for the work involved. Kit goes together well, the gelcoat body polishes up like you wouldnt believe, and the CD build manual takes all the guesswork out of the build.

Absolute top notch quality, and the exztras they make are cheap but perfect.

I've never heard a bad thing about AK........

But dont get me started about BMW garages...................which is why I now drive a Jag.......

Cheers,
Tony

RE: AK a credit to the kit car industry

Hi Lee, yes they are really helpful at AK. The first time I met them was at Donnington 2 years ago and after having very little help from a couple of other manufacturers, John preceded to spend nearly an hour explaining everything to me. The day I went to the factory for a look around thinking that perhaps I would spend a couple of hours there, I ended up spending all day there having all the different process explained to me.
The build was virtually trouble free and the only problems I did have were nothing to do with AK. As Tony has said the gell coat is good so you can get a good finish, with quite a bit of work and delay the paint job for a year or so ( until the bank balance has recovered).

First class company run by first class people.

RE: AK a credit to the kit car industry

I've been building mine just on two years, you wouldnt beleive the patience these guys have at fending the silly/simple questions i have asked.
I have paid them several visits during my build and have seen that they have taken account of feedback from customers and they have made minor changes to the design to simplyfy things for builder.
The introduction of the build CD has again improved things immensly.

Good luck and you wont go wrong with an AK build
