RE: rolling road 4.6 rv8

Hi Russ,
It was set up on the rolling road by Peter Baldwin (same guy who did steve g's and martin's) near Royston (where I used to live).
He did set it up fairly rich on idle - marginal he said if it had to go for MOT emissions (which it doesn't) so I presume that meant about 4.5% CO - this gave peak power. Not sure if these things drift with time - that was over a year ago.
Power output was almost on the limit of the rolling road power meter - about 290ish BHP I think which is not bad for a 4.6.

Stuart.

The moral of the story is, the more you've got the more you want.

stuart

when you swopped the engine, did you uprate the carb(needles, jets???)
it was it a case of just bolting onto the new engine?

RE: rolling road 4.6 rv8

Basically I gave Rpi the bits they needed (the timing cover and the carb) they then gave me back a sparkly new complete turn-key 4.6 - they did re-jet the carbs (I got them to agree to do this when I bought the carb off them for my 3.5 as I knew I was getting the 4.6 later)
Peter Baldwin is apparently a real jetting guru (someone else with a 7 reccommended him) - the jetting kit I ordered had not turned up in time for when I had the car on the rolling road, but Peter Baldwin reckoned it was spot on anyway (so did Holly at RPi and he's usually pretty good )

Stuart

PS - Agree with mike the more you've got the more you need - remember that test drive when you thought I was driving like a nut and I thought I was taking it easy!!
Twin turbos or nitrous definitely the way forward

BTW the R380 does fit but the gearbox mountings are in a slightly different location (AK will tell you if it'll be ok). The R380 is essentially just a beefed up LT77 - if you want turbos it'll need something completely different (Dave Ellis is a good source of info on this - when I spoke to him about the cost I nearly fainted!!)
