| Post SVA Mods I have posted this as a new question as several threads have touched on this question recently I would like to get clarification on where we stand if we modify our cars post SVA both legally and with insurance. I ask because I am in the middle of my build and would like to establish where we stand for the benefit of all. As a builder of a GD I fully intend the car to be fully compliant (is this naive) however How do builders stand with their "quick fixes" such as radius strip What if you re tune your engine for better performance (the emissions will change) Are there any records kept about the car which prove/disprove modification What if I increase the cc's on my 3.5L Rover V8 or change the engine all together for something bigger Would fitting a hood and other wet weather gear after SVA constitute modifications Why are SVA cars any different from standard road cars and when was the last time you got an after market exhaust with radiused tail pipe The MOT shows the status of the vehicle at the time of issue and whilst valid for 12 months does not guarantee the car is road worthy throughout that period, is SVA the same? I know there are a lot of questions there I can think of many more, any guidance or experience greatly appreciated. Steve |

| RE: Post SVA Mods Hi there here are some possible answers to your questions 1. insurance you would be advised to notify them (especially engine mods) 2. If you intend to comply to SVA what's the problem 3. If you comply you should not need quick fixes but if you do then you are only complying with the wishes of the inspector. re,emissions after the SVA at the present moment in time for MOT are visual only 4. you would need to notify DVLC of any changes to your engine regarding capacity or change of engine number 5. If you fit a hood then the hood studs that are now available should be SVA compliant 6. If you took a standard car with an after market exhaust(no radius)it would fail. 7. the SVA proves that the vehicle in question has been inspected and if passed is issued with an MAC cert, which is required to licence the vehicle from then on it is down to MOT cheers Paul |
