| What is happening here? Electrical gremlins ! A few weeks ago my alternator went and l made the mistake of continuing to drive it for around 90 miles resulting in some of the dials going crazy and the radio turning itself on and off on its own. So, replaced it with a new one and thought everything was fine. Then, discovered the battery was knackered too - probably as a result of the above. Now, l have a new alternator and battery BUT the voltmeter flickers up and down in time with the indicators and if l touch the brakes (activating the brake lights) the volts drop and sends the needle on the electronic speedo crazy ??? Something is clearly not right with the electrical system but l don't know what. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks..... |

| Is the new Alternator charging (engine running, Volts at 14ish), or are you just discharging your new Batt? Jim |

| The new alternator seems to be charging fine (around 14 volts). |

| I don't know ! Where is it and what does it look like? 'Voltage stabiliser' - definitely could be that as it's not doing what it 'says on the tin'. |

| Voltage stabiliser looks like an indicator relay unit, have replaced one in the LandRover and solved a misreading fuel guage, but I'm pretty sure that I do not have one like that in the Cobra ![]() Would it not be part of the alternator?

We've ruled out the voltage stabiliser because that only affects the fuel gauge and temp. gauge. |
