Europa quality components

I received a set of (very expensive considering what they are) quick lifts today from Europa.

Upon unpacking them, it was clear that the powder coating was very poor - big areas of it flaking off - symptomatic of poor preparation/degreasing and so bad that I was surprised that Europa bothered to ship them.

Surely they have some inspection/quality control in either Goods In or Order Picking departments?

I took them to my local metal finishers who quoted me £40 to strip and re-coat them.

I emailed Europa and suggested that as I had already paid a tenner postage, the quickest/cheapest solution would be if they contributed £25 to the cost of properly finishing the lifts.

Apparently not, they have asked that I send them back (at my cost) so that they can send them back to their supplier. No mention of sending me a replacement set in the meantime.

First, after many years of dealing, this is the last time I will buy from Europa.

Second, I am considering fitting them as they are, bare metal and all and attaching a sign that reads: Lifts supplied by Europa Specialist Spares on 12th June 2008 - see how they rust!

I should have ordered the Finish Line items at half the cost before shipping. We live and learn.

Jeremy

Jeremy,

Sorry to here of your predicament, but IMHO I would have thought it would be more beneficial to give Europa a chance to rectify the problem rather than demand money with menace. I have only ever had one problem with them, which was when one of my gauges turned up with an anti glare glass fitted. They were very apologetic, requested the defective unit back and dispatched a replacement that day. Seem to remember being credited the postage too.

Hope you get it sorted.

No way they should have shipped such poor quailty items, but I have to say that the last time I ordered the wrong part from them, they were very good about shipping the right one to me straight away and crediting the wrong one.
Give them a chance to put things right..............

Never had any bother with Europa myself........I bought my quicklifts from Finishline though, excellent.
Just getting a little bored with explaining to passers by what they are for. Most seem to think they are hillclimb timing beam thingies.

Yup, second everything that everyone has said, Europa have one of the best customer services, have had one or two things wrong from them that were not their fault, once the items were sent back I had replacements by the next day and a credit for postage etc.

Talk to them

I have bought several bits from Europa as I only live down the road, both Andy and Sean on the desk are really helpful chaps, as are the fems on the phone. I had a couple of faulty items once and they were replaced or refunded with appologies too.
