Question Time to choose a colour

Well it's that time now i need to choose a colour for the painters this week. I've been lurking on various Cobra sites at home and abroad in order to see pictures of finished cars. I have decide on a metallic red with white stripes ( i know its not right but i have to drive it (have to? want to! no persuassion or punishment needed)). I have only found one website with dedicated colour galleries (allthingscobra.tripod.com). Although this is great there is only a limited number of pics and no paint codes.

Question: and this would greatly be appreciated, would any forum members be kind enough to post a picture with the relevant paint code or name to help me decide.

Maybe a colour gallery might be an idea for here, say a three quarter on frontal shot in sunlight as a standard form. What do you think? At least we are starting to get the right weather for it ( and driving).

Look forward to meeting any and all cob owners at the Festival of Speed and the Revival.

Hi Andy
There's a picture of my car in my gallery, and it's Rover Nightfire Red. Ignore the stripes the painter left the country before i could sort it (him)out.
HTH Stu.

Thanks Stu,

You've got the same colour as my business partners SRV8, great colour but i'm looking for a darker deeper mica red, saw one in one of the us cobra clubs galleries and downloaded it but forget who's it was in order to ask the question ( and there are loadsandloadsandloads and oh etc pictures there and i'm not spending another 6 hours trolling through the lot, it knackered my eyes! Thanks for the reply.

Thanks Dave,
Rosso is one colour code i did manage to get with one the pictures but (it's that word again) still not quite there (i,m picky like that, comes from being an injuneer!) whweres that spell checker? The realy stunning colour i think was candy apple red over black but it's a beatch for the painters due to the various stages of application and forget about matching it if there's a scratch! So i,ve looked at Jaguar/Aston Martin mettallic reds and Ford lazer tint red which i had on my Explorer and that was close but still too light. The painters have warned me to stay away from multi level/pack paints for future touch up's if neccessary. The search contines and the sands of time are running away.
Much appreciate the replies guys i'm sure some one will nail it (or me).

Mine (my cobra gallery) is a dark metalic red....

Darker than Nightfire. Problem is, Neither I or the guy who built the car know exactly what it is.

Although my local paintshop seem to think it's a mid 90's ford colour....?

Thanks Jan and Chris, getting close , still looking darker,if i can figure out how to upload the 4 pics i like i will try to give a clue but (its that word again) been down the road of looking at paint chip cards and that doesn't help unless it's sunny so i guess getting a painter to make up samples and take them out into the sun maybe an option (ouch i hear those pound signs ringing again).. Computer pictures help a lot ,unfortunately (i didn't use but..dam yes i did) the colours always look different on other peoples screens. Thanks for help and reply.

I would endorse House of Kolor paints as the result that has been achieved on my car is excellent.I´m sure they also have your desired colour. If you ask me go orange , but I´m partial.

Regards

Frank

Thank you Frank, yes candy apple red is a HOK paint unfortunately the painters are warning me away from these multi application paints due to the improbability of matching the paint at a later date although i do love it. I like the bright and stunning colours that are available these days and your orange certainly does stand out. My first choice was going to be imperial blue but once i saw that dark deep mica red i was in love. Thank you for the reply Frank.

Ford did a light & a dark aubergine in the 90s mainly on Mondeos, Vauxhall did Cavaliers in a riocca ?

Considering those & BMW Z4 merlot red colour myself, have a look on Autotrader.

Good luck Tony.
