AUTHENTIC COPY

Advise please, Who out there can tell me who makes the most authentic body these days. Would like to build another Cobra, but have been out of the scene for a few years now. Previously built a Dax back in the late 80s, and decided that its time for another build.

RE: AUTHENTIC COPY

Shelby - assuming you are considering UK kit suppliers only, then Rob is right, Crendon (01296 651985 - John Kerr). If you have really (£50k plus) deep pockets, then the Kirkham ally bodied car (made in Poland!!) is available through Hawk cars.
In the USA, also Superformance (made in S Africa!), but only purchaseable as complete less engine/box. Mucho Dineros.

If you are a mere struggling mortal like the rest of us and are happy with a fibreglass body, (hereafter known as a PSB - plastic sh*t box) then Crendon (John will do you an ally body if you want, probably less than the Kirkham). You can buy a Crendon at any stage of completion, right up to turnkey. (no Rob, that's not turkey). The new Crendon bodyshell is a faithfull replica of the 427 s/c shape.

If you want to see my Crendon, and are in the Leics area, come on down!!

Faithfullness of replication is all!!!!!! Right behind you there bro'.

Authenticity can be taken too far through, the AC 427 product was crap in the first place so being totally authentic, it is still crap.

It is what is underneath that needs to have changed, the body is fine.

RE: AUTHENTIC COPY

Technically the body is crap too, aerodynamics of a parachute. But the fact that it looks ssoooo good, especially with lots of shinny bits, means that people will always want it, including myself.

How, in the name of all that's holy, could that possibly be viewed as a "shame"?????? Only Fords "belong" in Cobra's - A Chevvy in a Cobra is a grim reminder of the fact that there is no accounting for folks. And remember how this thread started - the guy wanted faithfullness of replication!!!

So there.

If it was so crap, why are we driving replicas??? (OK, I'll allow you the point that our chassis/running gear is a lot better than the original, but how many other 60's performance cars would not be viewed with some disdain nowadays?? And how many are copied??)

Wilf (not really rising to the bait, just stoking it up a bit).

PS -I.ve just thought about this some more - if I could afford a real 427 s/c, there would be one in my garage, faults and all, along with many other fine vintage vehicles.

Wilf

If you check back on your history, the Cobra should have had a chevy. That was Shelbys engine of choice, but they wouldn't let him have them, so he had to talk to Ford. So second best choice. :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P
