PIlgrim RIP?

Just to bring Den's news out from the other thread, apparently the factory is no more and the administrators are in.

Very sad day

Sad indeed.
Anyone know yet how those with orders are going to fair?

That is a shame. Always thought Pilgrim were well placed to keep going with the Sumo. Guess that new car was a bit too far.

Hopefully someone will pick up the Sumo project and keep it going.

Craig.

Very sad news for this marque, and for the people awaiting paid-for parts/cars. They need to find out who the administrators/receivers are asap and get in touch.

However, watch this space, as I would expect someone to buy out the jigs etc. and the Pilgrim Sumo may arise, phoenix-like, from the ashes, again. However, not a business I would fancy in the current economic clime.

That is sad. I feel most sorry for the people part through a build especially those that didn't get all major components upfront like the body. Lets hope someone keeps Pilgrim going or at least the Sumo. How do you think this will effect the value of finished Sumo's?

A shame but it looked like it might have been on the cards.
Luckily a lot of parts are available elsewhere but that's only of limited help if you've lost money on existing orders.
It would be nice to think someone would pick up the pieces and improve the car further but, as Wilf says, that may not happen with the economy as it stands.

It is very bad new in a way but not in another!

Like I said in the other thread, the damage that was being done by the current owners was terrible. I really, really hope that someone buys that company and turns it round. I love my Sumo and think that it has a unique place in the market. It can both at the budget end and at the fairly "biggish bucks" end. I will be 110% behind anyone that has the balls to get production of the kits up and running again. (burn the minataour though!).

Come Den, you know you want to!

Regards,

Pete

Save Den the trouble of copying from other post

Quote from Den:

"Yes, the receivers are in. They held a meeting this morning where they laid off all the staff. The company was "In Administration" as things stood at lunch time. My guess is that things will move to the next stage very quickly."

Oh thats just great - I've just bought and installed a lovely engine at some cost.
Total build cost to date nearly 9K.
I dont have the body/windscreen/etc - What happens now?

I've tried ringing Pilgrim but the phone is off.

Malc
