RE: Just for you if you have more money than sense...... Would I part with that sort of money if I had it.....hmmmm. Now let me think about that one.....errr.........DAMN RIGHT IF I had that sort of money.....not that I ever will :} I wouldn't buy it if I had, say, £200K. Now, if I had £500K? Too right I'd buy it. I'd then proceed to spend another £500K in petrol in 12 months. This thing has got history, soul, a story to tell (oh dear, I'll get my anorak out shall I) unlike my RAM (well, some of it's suspension parts have got history, but that's all) This 289 would be a decent retirement nest egg as its got a bit of providence. How many bags of Buttons did Mr Cadbury have to sell to buy this sucker!! Hell, might as well have fun watching it rise in value and sell it to some other classic car mug (like me) in 30 years time? Job's a goodun. You can't put sanity into these decisions. If we did (like most people I know), we'd say we all just drive plastic cars with big engines just cuz we like to go fast. But we don't, do we! Mind you, at least mine can go around corners without killing me. Sometimes.....

RE: Just for you if you have more money than sense...... Providence?! I meant provinance. Durr... Mind you, I'd need a bit of providence to get hold of a real 289!:P

RE: Just for you if you have more money than sense...... Soooo that's it then GD copied the right one (light blue touch paper, wait for thread to de-generate) The 289 Cobras were an immediate success on the race track, drag strip and rally routes, and they scored wins against strong international sports car competition, winning at Daytona, Sebring, Oulton Park, NŸrburgring, and to Ferrari's particular embarrassment, at Monza. The 289 Cobra was later developed by Shelby into the 427 Cobra, but it was never to be as successful as the 289 which, while not quite having the ultimate power of its larger brother, was always a far better handling all-round chassis. It was the 289 that won the World Manufacturer's Championship in 1965. {-} {-} {-}

RE: Just for you if you have more money than sense...... Well said the 289 is just so svelte........... not like a Tonka on steroids. If you want that buy an EVO VII. If I keep delivering the papers maybe.. just maybe I'll be able to afford one when i'm 103! :9

| OK, thats a lot of cash, but.... at least you get a real one. This guy appears to have spent £50k on a replica.. http://www.jaytorborg.com/cobra_main.htm Lots of custom parts, custom traction control, brake bias all the toys. Dash look a bit brash and american though... Makes my budget of £20-25k look a bit puny. Adrian
