Storing a crankshaft

hi guys,

now that I have my crank I intend to coat it in oil and seal it in a bag.

i have been struggling to find a suitable type of bag that A0 can be sourced locally and b) wont cost the earth in delivery charges.

Do you think a strong bin bga would do. Maybe Id wrap in int one, seal it then add another. the whole crank will then be returne to its box so snags wont be an issue.

Any thoughts?

cheers

Andy

RE: Storing a crankshaft

Sounds good, just make sure it's all covered with oil, even the oilways through the crank.

Andy,
WD and a bin bag will be fine.

Exactly what I used over a dank and wet winter in a soggy garage - no problems. Duct tape the bag.

RE: Storing a crankshaft

I grease the journals and then spray the rest with oil and wd40. Put it in a bin bag and spray wd 40 into the bag, then tie it up and seal the bag with tape. Leave to grow and see if you have a stroker come spring

Boost it, I do!
