Anyone fitted one of these on a Cobra?

Had the pleasure of driving the wonderful Dodge Neon on a recent trip to Florida. I hope the brakes on my Cobra will be as ineffectual, to give me a more exciting driving experience.

Are automatics supposed to make that noise when you try and do a handbrake turn using the "Park" setting?

Anyway, in case you get kidnapped by a driver so digruntled by the complete lack of any noteworthy features on his crappy car, you might need one of these (and yes, they are "Glow in the Dark")

RE: Anyone fitted one of these on a Cobra?

As I am probably the only person is this club that actually has a Neon sitting on his drive I should take issue with your comments about it being a crappy car......... its not up to Focus standards admittedly but its bloody cheap to buy, cheap to run and unfailingly reliable.

It also handles like a pig ( brakes are OK on ours but then again I do the maintenance), the manual gearbox is fine and it is quite comfortable.

It is also the wife's car and it keeps her out of the drivers seat in my Jag for which I am eternally grateful.

What you should have done was when you landed in the good old USA is ask about an upgrade at the car hire check in counter because every UK tourist wants a Neon cos they've booked it from home. This means that there are never enough Neons to go around and there are a plethora of bigger, more luxurious cars to take your pick from for a small upgrade figure.

A bit of haggling at the Alamo desk would have got you into a 3 or 4 litre V6 car the size of a small country for a pitiful extra amount per day. I set my limit at 7 dollars extra per day and just keep pushing for the best car I can get.

Then we laugh at all the UK families piling into their Neons with all luggage. I mean we can get "that" car at at home.......

Cheers,

Tony

Apparently the Neon was an uppgrade. God knows what they would've given me otherwise!!

Let's face it, any car is a crappy car if it's not a Cobra...

RE: Anyone fitted one of these on a Cobra?

Trick I was always told to use at the car hire places in Florida was to make sure you book the smallest car they have. When you get to the counter they will always try to talk you into upgrading because "you will never get your luggage in that car". Keeping saying "no - the one I booked will be fine thanks" and chances are you will get something bigger anyway. This is because they only have a couple of the really small cars anyway. Always worked for me - I've never been given anything smaller than a Mondeo, and last time I got Mitsubishi 4x4. Just the job for Daytona beach.

BTW - few years back I was talked into getting a Florida drivers license. Took about three hours start to finish (written test and practical), no pre-booking required, and was so scarily easy it was frightening to think that people were actually failing it.

RE: Anyone fitted one of these on a Cobra?

I booked a Dodge Stratus 2.4 Auto when I went a few years ago.
That was fine, if a bit gutless. Comfortable enough to put over 4000 miles on it in just over a week - the returns guy had to double-check the mileage!

I was going to make some comment about the GD build video, but the kidnap scene happens before the lock is fitted

Simon.
