| RE: What is a COOKE VHD VIPER Cobra 427 Jacko, Read this thread to find out more about Ken Crook (sorry I meant Cooke) and his Viper. Sounds like you're being offered one he made between 1990 when he fled England and 1993 when he skulked back. http://www.cobra-replica.co.uk/crcfo...id=26051&page= Also, No it’s not a DAX.

| RE: What is a COOKE VHD VIPER Cobra 427 Hi, if I look to the pictures of the post you gave to me, I can see there are no JAG XJ6 rearends. The one I ahave been offered has a JAG rearend. I asked the guy to take some more pictures, so maybe this helps a little more. Worst I can experience is Licence papers do not match the car, meaning if papers are Viper and the car isn't... thanks regards |

Den(kitcarman) is right in saying that Ken Cook was a crook! He is also an arrogant and ignorant tosser who never had the time of day for anyone.Classic Replicas, as it is now known,is now under the ownership of a chap called Adrian Percival who can be contacted on 01606 854401.I'm told that he is a descent chap who would be only be to glad to help.I hope that Adrian can improve and gain the success that the car deserves. At the end of the day the viper generally has been regarded as more of the budget end of the cobra market along with the pilgrim, but i believe that you can have as much fun in a budget cobra as someone who has spent double the money,it depends what you can afford.Good luck with your build.:tu

| RE: What is a COOKE VHD VIPER Cobra 427 Just to give you a laugh: When I originally got interested in building a Cobra it was the early 80's. I visited many of the Cobra replica manufacture to appraise which was the best. The three I visited were, DAX North of London, Gravetti down the West Country and on the way back I dropped into Brightwheels near Bournmouth. Brightwheels had only just started business and had just got their demonstrator running, so they offered a test run. I took up the offer and set of for a demo. The first observation was the rear suspension squated everytime we accelerated, in general it hoped about the road quite alarmingly. We got about 3 miles away from the factory, not very impressed with the flexible chassis, then the engine died on us and it would not restart. So we had to walk three miles back on foot to the factory, so I refused the info pack and left and headed home. Brightwheels were removed from the list of potential manufacturers. Eventualy I decided that I did not have the budget to build a good replica, and most of the early Cobras replica left a lot to be desired. I revisited the replica Cobra market 3 1/2 years ago and was pleased that there were many new manufacturers producing much better replicas. Even, some the long standing ones had raised their standard, for instanced DAX had improved the moulding of the wing seams. In the early 80's there was a step along the top of the front wings about 3mm high. Ian XII COB - GD Euro, 383ci, Tremec TKO |
