XJ40 Powerlock

Well, you may have seen from one of my earlier posts I now have the chance to upgrade my chassis order with Dax to a de dion.

The only problem now is I need to find a XJ40 powerlock to replace the standard XJ 3.54 Powerlock I have.

Anyone know of someone who has one of these at the moment? Ideally a 3.54 but open to ideas. I've tried a couple of places but no joy

Then all I need then is a donor vehicle (V5) for a Jaguar/Daimler XJ40 (1986 to ’94) to replace my Jag 420 one.

Any help appreciated.

Michael

RE: XJ40 Powerlock

Well, I've tried all the usual suspects and to no joy. This is a real shame as with the XJ40 and V5 upfront I can't change my order to the Dax de dion and sell the powerlock + donor (V5) I have

Are you sure you don't know someone with either of these items

Here's forever hoping (well I have about 2½ weeks left).

Michael, you could try David Kelly Jaguar Spares near Wrexham, do a web search for the tel. no.

Of course you may have already tried them.

Cheers Mike, I'll give them a bell in the morning.

Fingers crossed it's a 3.6 auto as well.

Regards

RE: XJ40 Powerlock

Micheal,

I thnk you'll find that PL in XJ40 were extremely rare - option fit only.

I could build you a PL in an XJ40 case from the 3.54 PL XJ one you have and any XJ40 diff, using the gears and carrier from your current one and the diff case/output shafts etc from the XJ40 one.

Of course this means you won't have a spare diff to sell (although I could re-build the std XJ one with the innards of the XJ40)) but at least you'll have exactly what you want for your Cobra.

Let me know if you're interested.

Russ

RE: XJ40 Powerlock

Hi Russ,

Thanks for this. I think that's the way I'm having to head as I can't get a XJ40 powerlock for love nor money.

Are you able to get standard XJ40 cases and what's the cost to do this conversion.

Thanks

Michael
