Dax radiator, what goes in this hole?

Replacing a rad in a Rover powered Dax I came across this hole in the side tank. When I took out the rubber bung and temp sensor I was left with a hole about 7 or 8mm across. On the new rad, the hole is about 4mm (second picture) what goes in it?

RE: Dax radiator, what goes in this hole?

Hi Simon, if that is an SD1 radiator then I have got the same holes in my rad and they have nothing in them on mine as the hole is only in the casing. HTH

Not sure how well you can see but here is a picture of mine.

Martin,

Yes looks the same but mine seems to go through to the core (it had a temparature sender in it)

Simon

I think they are something to do with the air-con on the SD1, I used domestic radiator brass bleed valves to fill mine (mine where threaded).
