Protection against salt?

Printed in a recent copy of MCN-

'Spray the bike with Scottoiler FS365, it protects the bike by breaking down salt that it contacts with. Spray all engine and exhaust parts with WD40. This will burn off as the bike gets hot, but the fine film it leaves protects it from corrosion.'

Must be worth looking into for cars as well ???
