Bristol Test Centre

SVA looming. Any experiences of the Bristol test centre for SVA of a Cobra and more specifically a GD? (I live in Andover and Southampton's reputation goes before it with a clothes peg on its nose). My alternative is Yeading. (Robert isn't this site crying out for a league table of test centres?) Any tips/experience gratefully received.

If anyone lets me have a rating of a particular test center and a quote, then yes.

Rate them 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest, and I will do it.

If you call them a couple of days just to remind them your coming they should have just enough time to get some deepest sympathy cards cos it's a GD

This is getting rather tedious.

Nah! Keep up the abuse - I can take it and so can the car which can duck and weave a lot better than one of Dave's Daxshunts or whatever you call those dogs!

(And before the Dax brigade descend they're not so bad, just a bit lard arsed for my tastes.):+

OH go on then!
When you say you can take it,you ought to play fair and state what car you have, but assuming you have one of those GD things,I have invented just the thing for you.... Quality hand stitched motorcycle knee sliders to sew to the top of your trouser legs where that bloody awkwardly angled GD steering wheel wears them away. And an aerodynamic hat to send the wind over the top of your head cos your seats are too high (you can always spot a happy GD driver by counting the number of bugs splattered on his forehead).Oh and one more thing i just love those reclaimed lavatory flush door handles....NOT.

Also ,why are we all here? this is the Cobra Replica Club and acording to the official GD line "you don't drive a Cobra Replica, you drive a GD" ...so why are you here?

Why are we all here 2.?.... We are all here because we saw a Cobra or a "replica" Cobra and thought ...I want one and i've got to have one!(we probably thought we could build it for less than the quoted figures aswell). So we got involved purely on the look of the car ,(you GD guys have sacrificed the look for "improved handling" ) because if you wanted to go around corners more than you wanted a car that looked the part you would have bought a roller skate(Lotus 7) and if you really wanted to go around corners you would have bought a 4X4 Lotus 7.Only one problem with this..... you would have to shop at Dax to get one.

My problem isn't with the GD it's with anyone who shouts about how wonderful something is without disclosing all the features, good and bad.there are other makes out there that have features that i don't like but their owners don't seem to shout so loud about how wonderful their car is...Are you GD guys on a crusade to try and convince us all that your cars are the be all and end all in this industry....In doing this are you really just trying to convince yourselves that you made the right choice? People vote with their wallets....so why don't GD out sell all the other Jag based kits put together?
Racetrack handling isn't everything you know ,if you want scary fun, clamp the flexi brake pipes with some mole grips on a fiesta find someone else to do the same ,remove reversing lamp bulbs and then race around a night club carpark in the dark ...Backwards,that should get your pulse racing!

How was that then?

P.S. Robert looks like he's got backup.... where's mine?
:P

RE: Bristol Test Centre

Derby were excellent (didn't take the car there myself, AK did it for me), from my several chats with them about various SVA queries, they couldn't have been more helpful. Apparently they were very good on the test too (passed first time ) - though I guess this doesn't help you much callum!!?
