Steve,
Just remember that the noise test speed is worked out from a percentage of the max power speed you quote, so keep it as low as you dare.
In reality 5950 - 6000 rpm is probably a realistic max speed with 4750 rpm for max power assuming you have a stockish engine.

RE: MAX rpm for SVA form

Hi Steve, I put my RV8 through the test last year and quoted the max power at 3,500 rpm which is what AK recommended.

Hi Steve,

I put mine through at 4500 and it was a pain in the ar&e, if you can get away with 3500 life will be much nicer

Kev,

Rev limit on a stock RV8 is 5200rpm (valve 'control' limited).

Hi Russ, I must going even more daft. I don't remember it being as low as that when I running them on the Dynos at Solihull.
I remember you could get valve float at 6000 rpm.
Oh! how the mists of time fog the memory.
Or it could be the Stella and Rioja.

Steve.

I did the same as Martin 3500rpm and got 98 decibells on the test. They shouldn`t quetion it but if they do tell them the engine came from a Land Rover or something and was built for torque not high rev limits .

Martin, how was the skiing? no broken bones I trust

Tony.
