Wired for sound

I've been offered a good deal on a radio/tape/cd interchanger with a view to fitting it in my Viper when it is complete.

The question is, will I be able to hear it short of having it on full blast as I'm driving ?

I was wondering what the general concensus is about music in a Cobra,
i.e. is it practical.

Cheers

The sidepipes make enough music for me, and I have instant control, with my right foot!!

RE: Wired for sound

Huge big amplifier should sort out sound problems.
May be OK in standard form with the hood on, but with no hood you can forget about music over 40mph.

Of course, if you put large amps in, be prepared for traffic light jukebox!

RE: Wired for sound

I neede 500 watts in mine to hear it properly and needed to upgrade to a 100 amp alternator.

However if you are a Barry White Fan even that will not drown the wonderful V8 burble thank god. You need to get Def Lepard or similar head banging stuff to still enjoy the cocophonous pandemonium that was the interpretation of the original sound.

However I have not found one that drowns out the other noise that you get with the Cobra, so I leave er at home now with the cooker.

Mike.

RE: Wired for sound

I have a minidisc player in mine, I wouldnt recomend a CD player / changer as they jump and skip over bumps as the ride in out cars is much stiffer than most.
I have a BIG amp in the boot, two 6/9" speakers in the rear bulkhead, two 6" speakers in the door cards and two little tweeters mounted in the corners of the dash.
The system is good up to about 60/70 mph (underslung exhaust)and really good with the roof up even at 80mph
only real problem is when you slow down for a junction or lights and the thing is still blasting out at full chat
if you want any photos let me know
Nick

RE: Wired for sound

Hi
I bought a CD player which plays MP3 which allows me to put about 200 tracks on 1 x CD, and with a remote I can change the volume etc, easily even thou I am strapped in my 4 point harness and with the CD Player right under the dash on passenger side, out of sight. I`ve got underslung exhausts I can hear it up to 70mph with out it blast out to much.

Regards

Colin

RE: Wired for sound

Thanks for your opinions, I like listening to something while I'm driving but not if it means deafening everyone I pass so I think I'll give it a miss.

Cheers everyone.
