| Cobras to Germany Hello Everyone. I have a question regarding taking Cobras to Germany, which I think either Mike or Nigel would be able to help me with. I am going to spending a bit of time in Germany, and if the contract is extended, then I will be shipping the wife out. The question is not related to the wife, as I have her cross border clearance sorted, the question is if I take my GD across for the summer, will I be subject to TUV or whatever? Thanks everyone. I can answer that one. Hello Robert. You can take your Cobra to Germany for upto 1 year without having to do anything, just make sure that your insurance covers you, it might be best if you keep the MOT and UK road tax up to date....you don't want to make any waves.

| RE: Cobras to Germany Hi Robert, I will have to do some checking on what the maximum period is that you can run a car here on UK plates. When I brought my car here I ran it on UK plates for three months pror to getting the TUV sorted and then registered in Germany - three months was the longest my UK insurers would give me cover for - and as I plan on being here three years there was no reason to elay getting it registered here. I do know that if you do need to get it TUV'd and registered then you will either have to go the catalyst route or provide a UK log book that has an older date on it somewhere - the DVLA were superb with me in this regard. I will see what I can find out re the maximum period. Also when you are over here give me a shout and we can get together. If you bring the family over fo a weekend you can also stop by here - you would be very welcome. Regards Nigel

| RE: Cobras to Germany Hi Rob, As you know I'm contracting out here in lovely Germany at the moment (Mobilcom, up near Hamburg). I have my UK Audi out here and have been told I can have it here for one year before registering it. All I did was tell my UK insurance company that I was working in both UK and Germany and that I needed a one year green card (About 250 quid I think) and that was it. Where are you going to be working? They are slowly putting more and more speed limits on the Autobahns at the moment but don't worry, there are still plenty to choose from.!! Also, not sure if Andy Burrows told you but I bought P122 HBD from him a few weeks ago. It is superb and I was really impressed with the car and the quality of it, thanks for the recommendation. I am having some new wheels on it, a few other bits and I will be picking it up 22nd December (Nice little Christmas present.!). I will therefore start the New Year as a fully fledged GD owner. Might meet you on the Autobahns at some point(Supercharged against non supercharged.!!) Take it easy, Ade |

| RE: Cobras to Germany Robert Answers are correct. eg 1 Year. Do not export the car if the period is less than that as then you are subject to TUV. You must tell your insurer that you are "resident" in Germany and officially you need a letter supporting that fact. You may care to try AXA insurance as they cover a good number of UK based forces in Germany and may give you a good deal. Not so sure about obtaining an agreed evaluation though. I understand that you know longer need a green card but that will need checking. |

| RE: Cobras to Germany Sorry, Further to my last TUV is done on the age of the Chassis, Log Book not engine. There are ways around this. |
