Brake Pipes

Hi guys

Some advice please on brake pipe size.About to start on the braking system, Sumo/Granada/discs F&R. What size brake pipe should I use. Who are the best people to supply fittings, do motor factors or autospares places do them. I need locknuts for the Pilgrim supplied flexi's, fittings to connect to the said flexi's, tee piece with fittings and am contemplating a compensation valve.

Any advice gratefully received

Thanks

Phil:}

RE: Brake Pipes

Hi Phil,
Most good motor factors can supply brake pipe and the various sizes of pipe nut, depending on your thread sizes.
I recommend you buy a coil of copper brake pipe 3/16" is the standard size.
You will also need a flareing kit to make up the ends, it's quite simple really, try a few practice ones first before doing the actual pipes.
A flareing tool will vary in price so I guess it depends whether or not you'll ever use it again after you finish the build on how much you want to spend.
I gather most Sumo's use a compensator valve.
I recommend you use stainlees braided flexy hoses but make sure they are SVA compliant ones.
One supplier I use is "www.thinkauto.com"
:tu :tu :tu

Good luck with your build

RE: Brake Pipes

Phil,
As Kev says, go to a motor factor for the pipes and fittings.
Tony Holmes told me that you only need the compensating valve if you use the Sierra setup with rear drums.
I have a Sumo RV8 with Granada running gear and its fine without. Passed SVA 1st time so save yourself the aggro and do without,
