RE: Free Cobra Magazine

Den

Mine also arrived this morning, the 44 pages of articles are ok, 110 pages of boy racer catalogue, what's that about?, certainly not Cobra related, then 85 pages of adverts.

Sorry Den, not impressed, it certainly doesn't live up to its title (THE MAGAZINE FOR COBRA OWNERS AND LOVERS) and I for one would not purchase it in its current format.

Apologises, you did say you wanted honest opinions, I appreciate all the hard work that you must have put in to it and I thank you for the free copy.

RE: Free Cobra Magazine

I haven't taken mine out of the packet yet, but I notice the retail price is £6.00... seems a bit steep - is this one of those magazines where you get a free bit of a Cobra every month until you have built a complete one?

I look forward to reading it on my forthcoming trip this weekend...

RE: Free Cobra Magazine

Yup,

It made a great plonk as it hit the floor from the letter box so I rushed to read it.

Oh dear...... Same comments that have been made already.

Basically take a few cobra articles previously published in that well known mag and staple them to a Demon Tweaks or similar catalogue.

Nice try Den and thanks.. (I really do mean that I am grateful) it cant be easy putting togeter something that rivals our own club mag which lets face it is great.

Again, I dont think it was enough to make be part with any cash as yet... sorry.

RE: Free Cobra Magazine

Well,

Just got home and had a flick through the mag.

We were already warned this issue would be repeats of earlier articles from KitCar so I wasn't expecting much but in fact I did find I hadn't seen as many as I'd thought (being a newbie to all this I suppose!).

One thing strikes me though from the responses here, it is people like us that make these kind of magazines work or crash and burn.

Who out there has submitted something to Ken for publication in part 2...3....4? We must all have stories or build up diaries that would be good to see and read in black and white.

I'd love to document my De Dion build as I'm sure it'll have it's ups and downs and people looking at buying these kits would see a build from a real novice perspective. You never know I might just do it :P :P

Well that's me done.

Michael

PS Thanks Ken

RE: Free Cobra Magazine

Human nature's a strange thing - we were forewarned about the repeat articles etc in no uncertain terms yet our expectations were still sky high.
The freebee was a nice gesture albeit in exchange for marketing comments but if the repeat content remains much the same as this first issue, I think for most folk it will be a case of choosing one or other mag, not both.

I suppose that means the choice is Which Mag or Which Kit{-} {-} {-}

If anyone has such articles wouldn't they be better submitting them to Pete Jones for publication in a magazine they already pay for (if they're a CRC member)- that is Snake Torque - OUR own Cobra dedicated publication.

If we had more material from contributors, we could publish more often than we do already.
