RE: T5 gearbox for sale on ebay

I want a 5 speed box for my Chevy 350 - I currently have a Lakehurst Bell Housing with a 4 speed Ford Top Loader. What are the implications of going for this gearbox? what difference does it make if it's a T45 as opposed to T5 and what's a 1st motion bearing?

Regards

KenT

RE: T5 gearbox for sale on ebay

Hi Ken,
The T45 has a bellhousing which is an integral part of the gearbox and holds the front bearings for the g/box shafts etc.
If you take the bellhousing of you are straight into the gearbox
The T5 has a separate bellhousing which can be changed to suit your application without going into the gearbox.
I believe the T45 was fitted to the modular motor, a similar bolt pattern but the starter motor pocket is in the wrong position.
Shame really cos by all accounts they are a damn good box. :}
If you look at the site http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/products/T-5.asp
and compare the pics of the T5 and T45 the pic of the T5 shows the box only and the T45 is complete with bellhousing.
