RE: Failed MOT, but SVA Tues 24th

As a recent owner/tester of an MOT Station, I think you'll find that Mot Emissions Tests apply to "This inspection applies to all spark ignition engined vehicles with four or more wheels in Classes IV and VII."
And that the level of the Emissions is determined by "Test according to which is older, engine or vehicle.
e.g. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes.

Note: The onus is on the vehicle presenter
to prove engine age."
Sorry but i'm sure that "emmisions page 9
Amateur and kit cars smoke test only." Does not apply as the SVA is, and has, to apply the same standards.
Cheers

RE: Failed MOT, but SVA Tues 24th

IF THE SMOKE TEST DOESN'T APPLY TO AMATURE BUILT KIT CARS THEN WHY WAIST TIME, MONEY AND INK SAYING IT DOES IN THE MOT GUIDE BOOK,
TOOK THE OLD LADYS PROBE FOR MOT YESTERDAY ASKED THAT TESTER ABOUT KIT CAR EMMITIONS ,HE SAID ITS A SMOKE TEST ANY AGE CAR OR ENGINE.THE BEST WAY TO PASS EMMITIONS FOR AN MOT WITH A KIT CAR HAS GOT TO BE TO SIMPLY GO TO ONE THAT DOES A SMOKE TEST ONLY, RING AROUND A FEW AND ASK FIRST. IF A TESTER WANT TO INTERPRET THE GUIDE BOOK IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT MAKES YOUR LIFE HARDER THATS FINE ,BUT DONT REWARD HIM BY GOING THERE AND PAYING A TEST FEE FOR THE PRIVILEDGE OF HAVING THEM MAKE A HARDER TIME OF IT FOR YOU.
