Fire Extinguisher Systems

Hi all,
As you all probably remember someone's cobra recently went up in smoke after pulling off the M3 on a roundabout. Comments were made at the time about clubbing together to get a discount on a system. I have been speaking to Lifeline Fire & Safety Services Ltd (www.lifeline-fire.co.uk) on the possibility of a group discount. They have said that if we can get between 6 and 10 systems then they will give us a 25% discount, and if we get over 10 we will get 30%. The system we are looking at is a mechanical system which has a 4 litre extinguisher with 4 nozzles, 2 in the engine bay and 2 in the foot-wells. It uses a water based substance which can be jet-washed off the engine and if left to dry vacuumed off the carpet. You can also have a lock on the pull cord so that it can't accidentally be set off. The system costs (before discount)£299 + VAT. However if people want the automatic electrical system then I am sure they will oblige with the same deal. The cost of the electric system before discount is £450 + VAT.
At the moment I need to know how many people are interested and then I can go back to the company to possibly negotiate an even better price. Let me know if you are interested. If you are and this all works out, the way I will organise the deal is for everyone to confirm in an e:mail what you require and then to send me a cheque made payable to East Mids Cobra Club. This will be a club-arranged deal and will not go through my personal account. Whilst I don't manage the East Mids Cobra Club account, the person who does has agreed to use the club account for this purpose. Once I have all monies in the account I would then place the order. We would also need to come to some agreement on postage or pick-up. But let's leave that for a later date.
Let me know if you are interested,
Martin

RE: Fire Extinguisher Systems

Don't take this as a firm order, but I could well be interested - probably in the manual system (have to do a bit of research first)...

Having been on the receiving end of an engine bay fire, would possibly be interested, probably in the manual system.

Similar - Possibly a manual system - due to price, but as before - would wish to do some research first to see what the options/solutions are.

RE: Fire Extinguisher Systems

Hi Martin, I think other people may want to know the cost of refills (do they need re-doing every year) as this is where the main cost will be if this is the case.

How does this compare with the 4L ones in Demon Tweeks (which seem to be about £250 ish ?

Cheers

Marcus

RE: Fire Extinguisher Systems

Hi all,
just a quick thing, you might all struggle finding somewhere to fit a 4L bottle. I had enough of a job getting a 2.5L in with two nozzles. This was only £150 from Lifeline. Maybe worth looking at too,

RE: Fire Extinguisher Systems

Hi,
just so as you can see the size of a 2.5L, it just fits across the gap between the inner wings on my Dax with a bit to spare.
Phil
p.s. this is the stripped and polished version

RE: Fire Extinguisher Systems

The Rally Design catalogue that we all complained to strenuously about has the 4L Lifeline electronic system for £348+VAT and the manual for about £250+VAT...
