| RE: what's going on? My eldest son, who's into IT suggests that firstly upgrade your to Internet Explorer 6 download it free from the net. Secondly upgrade your system to Windows 2000 or XP if you can. Hope this helps. http://www.woodoouk.eclipse.co.uk/Wales.gif Kev Davies Dax, 383ci Chevy Stroker, Tremec TKO South Wales

| RE: what's going on? You could try checking several things. Windows needs a lot of memory, both ram and disk space to run smoothly. Check you have lots of free space on your hard disk, and that its not fragmented into bits. (You should be using defrag every month or two to tidy up your disk anyhow) Windows needs at least a couple of hundred megs space to run smoothly Check how many TSR (terminate & stay resident) programs you have running in memory. These will eat up the RAM available for new programs such as IE. A lot of these will show in the system tray area of the tool bar, the rest can be seen by pressing ALT CTRL + DEL and looking a the task list. You may also have a virus taking part of your bandwidth, or processor time. Do a full scan of all files, not just program files, on all your hard drives with an updated virus program. You could also try checking the MS site for Win98 & IE5 updates. Finally every page and graphic you visit is saved in your temp files folder to reduce and hence speed up downloads (i currently have 18000 in my temp folder) The more files in here, the longer it takes to look them up. This can slow things down. You might try clearing these files. If all that fails, go to Win2000, but you'll need at least 128mb of RAM to get it working smoothly. good luck.! | RE: what's going on? Aaah Monkey of greaseness. This may not be true but that looks like something I have had too. Tends to happen when you're in the middle of posting and you think ' hang on, what was that other bit someone else mentioned, you go for a little look see and return to the post. When you do post, it goes pear shaped and that scroll of terminology appears. If that is what it is, then try and post in one go. If you forget something, you can always add it later + you do get the chance to update/edit your post before it goes on. Of course if this is not what happened, then please dont tell me. It would help me knowing I have helped someone do something properly. }( Paul
