what a garage

After three weeks of trying to solve a minor electrical fault, I took my pride and joy SRV8 to a garage to fix. He has just rung me to say it`s fixed, but, one of his oiks bumped the door of the car yesterday. It`s taken him till this morning to pluck up the courage to tell me. I am as sick as a cleethorpe donkey in August. Just gutted. He will have to do the work, but will the paint match? It`s an obscure nightfire red. Have tried to find a touch up but can`t.
1`m not a happy bunny.

RE: what a garage

If he's a bona fide garage he'll have insurance and will be fully covered, so don't settle for a crap job.
Make sure it gets repainted by the same folks who did the original paint if you can.:tu

RE: what a garage

Bummer.

In 15 years of car ownership I have yet to find a garage, recommended or otherwise, that I would recommend on to anyone else. They always come back with the one thing fixed, and two other things broken.

The only time anyone other than me, or the guys at GD, are going to be allowed to touch my Cob will be for the MOT, and that grudgingly.

There ain't no replacement for displacement.. GD427 on order ... arriving May

RE: what a garage

I agree Garages dont seem to have a clue if its something out of the ordinary. I have decided to have my spray job done at a place that will let me strip it down, proir to painting.I just know that if a garage does it I'll return to a pile of broken parts that wont go back on.

RE: what a garage

:v :v :v Have been to the garage to see the damage. Not a pretty site. The owner, who I know very well otherwise I would`nt have taken her there at all, was mortified and has severley thrashed the oik concerned.(we take things into our own hands in Yorkshire)Has assured me I will not see the difference when he has finnished. A specialist paint sprayer is coming to analise the paint to get the correct formula to mix the paint Obviously no charge, not even for the work he has carried out. Car was first sprayed in Maidstone, too far to go as I live in Leeds.

Not any happier, but a bit calmer, I think

RE: what a garage

Chris

Just a suggestion...when the specialist paint sprayer has found the correct formula and sprayed it to your satisfaction, get him to give you some extra paint for any future touch ups you may need.

Hope things turn out as you'd like

RE: what a garage

Hi Andy

All ready done. Also he is going to give me a copy of the formula for future reference. Not only that, the garage has just phoned to tell me that they will also clear up some little paint defects that would have had to be done sooner or later.

A bit happier now, I think.

RE: what a garage

I took my Mazda to a guy I`ve known for years, his'greasemonkey' managed to split the front spoiler in half on their ramp.
Then they tried to say they`d 'noticed' it when I arrived!
I had just washed it that morning & knew it was unblemished, and when I pointed out the flakes of pearlescent on the ramp & the greasy dents in the spoiler, they gave up! Pi$$ed me off a guy I knew & trusted would try to lie his way out....cost him over £400 to repair & respray, & I haven`t spoken to him since(1997) x(

RE: what a garage

You should try and scrape that off the bonnet... won't help your wind resistance...
