Cobra kerb weights AKA Who ate all the pies thread!!

Following a trip out in an aluminium bodied Jag XJR it got me thinking about power to weight ratios. Engine outputs are relatively stright forward but I'm curious to know kerb weights for the various cobra reps out there - you know, who's the 'Rik Waller' and who's the 'Kate Moss' *ahem*......}(

RE: Cobra kerb weights AKA Who ate all the pies thread!!

My Dax weighed in at 1140 kg fully fuelled at the SVA test.
I think the SBC ate all the pies.

RE: Cobra kerb weights AKA Who ate all the pies thread!!

This is very interesting - already a 200kg variance - pretty worthwhile weight saving. Must admit I wasn't expecting to see one the right side of 1000kg! Nice one

Even with alloy body the Jag was around 1500kg - and despite it's power limiting in first gear (auto box can't take it) and traction control it was still twitchy and spinning off the line. Admitedly it was being driven in 'hooligan' mode.

Made me a little frightened comtemplating a car with similar(likely not quite as much as the XJR's 400bhp) power, no traction control and a third the weight - how the hell do you keep your cobras on the road!!

RE: Cobra kerb weights AKA Who ate all the pies thread!!

Hi Smash

My GD Euro with 350 Chevy and full tank at SVA was 1020kg,(500kg @ Front and 520 @ Rear. I am at moment having an LS6 fitted which should be about 50-60kg lighter. So I should be sub 1000kg. Alot is down to the suspension to get the traction down. I did manage a 12.63 Quarter mile at Elvington Cobra meet last year, and I only had it on the road from the Friday night. It was Brill.....}( }( :tu
Regards
Colin
