RE: Car Craft Show

Dave,
In my honest opinion, you’d have been better off spending your £250 on advertising with me!!!!

You’re right to pull me up though! I’m seriously biased against shows from which I’m barred.

I hope you get loads of business – you could be lucky. Both it’s visitors may want you to build them Cobras.

To help recover your £250, do you fancy selling Kit Car and Cobra magazines?

Chris,
This is what you said “4 road wheels for £160 worth the walk to the car park 3 times ”.

Is it my math’s at fault :} ? Or are you the one suffering with gremlins? {-}

RE: Car Craft Show

To be honest after the first walk to the car park, Against the wind and rain!! I drove down to the main entrance. Not a major battle with the throngs }(

RE: Car Craft Show

Dennis, in your position as a professional within this (and other) industries, I find your comments very unprofessional indeed. Quite a few people are aware of your conflict with the 'other' magazine but are sick of hearing about it. You ought not bring that arguement up on this site. I used to be one of your customers but I got so fed up with the slagging off of the 'other' magazine, I now buy the 'other' magazine only. You really ought not personally insult you fellow professionals on a web site like this one. Anyway, I think I've made my point.

RE: Car Craft Show

Hi Red Snake,
You’re completely right!

I don’t know what you know, or even if you care, but if you’d been put through what that so called professional had put me through – I think you wouldn’t take his magazine if it were given to you. That, of course, is an opinion.

What is fact is that I was driven to the point of mental breakdown by his long untruthful campaign that asserted that the service I provided was pitifully poor – especially in comparison to that provided by Fierro (under Briddon) and Classic Replicas (under Cook). I lost my health and a large slice of my wealth as a direct result.

I got an apology in the High Court which, according to PCC rules, should have been published in Which Kit? to set the record straight and put matters to rest. Instead of that apology, Which Kit? said that “Tanner didn’t win anything” and that Kit Car had “dubious standards”. If that weren’t enough, it’s editor accused my editor of being “spineless” in allowing me to publish the very apology that he should have published if any honour were in him.

On top of all this I faced the constant barrage of lies (again affecting my livelihood) concerning how many magazines he was claiming to sell in comparison with Kit Car.

I personally believe that I could be forgiven for loosing my temper, but apparently not by you. That’s OK with me. If you enjoy Which Kit? – buy it (and a Python). As for what I said concerning Stafford – I believe it is a crap show. I note that nobody disagrees with me. My concern is for the many newcomers who’ll be going next weekend in the expectation that the show will be like they’ve been led to believe in a certain magazine.

If a show that’s said to be good turns out to be crap, what conclusion does the reader come to about a car that the same magazine says is good? The problem with purveying lies mixed with truth is in knowing which is which. As I said – enjoy your reading material.

Having said all the above – it’s over. There shall be no further attacks on Which Kit, it’s editor or its shows either on this forum or in the pages of Kit Car from the May issue onward. I’ve just recruited a new member of staff and made a few policy decisions. What has been said has been effective, has been believed and my future course is to promote my product on it’s strength – which is considerable IMO.

RE: Car Craft Show

Hi Ben

As I live just outside Stafford it's quite easy to get to (5 minutes + queueing time which can be bad if the weather is good).

Unfortunately the wife is working that weekend so I only get two hours to do the show and be back at home, so I'll be there for the doors opening @10:00.

The show gives me an extra incentive on improving the 'Cobra Fund' as does Stoneleigh, while the Wife keeps renaming it 'Home Improvement Fund' and using it.

If you see someone 6'2", bald wearing a Subaru Jacket looking at your car it's probably me.

RE: Car Craft Show

Den.
A show is only as good as the manufacturers that turn up and the volume of "Owner drivers" that come. For people who want to see just what is out there and live north of Birmingham then Stafford is the only show at this end of the year.
It may not be on a Bank Hoilday weekend but i have done business at Stafford and the crowd that come are not just taking the kids out for something to do on the weekend (Which is what you get a lot of at the Bank Holiday shows).
There are always plenty of things to see and all the side stall guys are there selling thingamy jigs and Wojamycallits, just what most builders are looking for.
I think you should leave Stafford alone as i doubt you would condemn it if you managed to take over organising it.
