RE: Car Craft Show

You’re right Dave,
I’ll leave it alone, but just simply add that since I’ve been barred from it for the past 5 years I can hardly be expected to be supportive of it. Would you be in my position?

RE: Car Craft Show

Den, further to Dave's comments, which I totally agree with:-

Most ( if not all ) of the exhibitors at the show are exisiting or potential advertisers in you magazine(s)AND they are the ones that go to making the show a success NOT just the organisers.

If any of them read your comments they might misconstrue that you were having a pop at them not just getting in another dig at PF.

I rate Stafford because it is local to me ( 5 minutes ) and last year I got to see Dave's handywork close up.

Along with a good display from DAX these were my two main interest areas ( being Cobra related ) but the rest of the show was of a good standard.

RE: Car Craft Show

Understood Neil,
And I wish you, Dave, DAX and all the other exhibitors every success.

I’d ask all of you to have a word with Mr Filby on my behalf, because if he were to lift his exclusion policy it would go a long way toward dealing with the bitterness which causes my antagonism.

RE: Car Craft Show

Dennis,

I do know what you have been through (well I can imagine) and it must be awful. I do sympathise with you but like I said, it is unprofessional to be saying what you are on this site. In my opinion you ought to keep your arguements with your 'opposition' away from this club. Again, to reiterate, I really do sympathise with you, however, the constant stupidness and mockery of Mr. Filby in your magazine drove me to not purchase your product. As far as the Stafford show is concerned, it used to be quite poor but over the last three years has become much better, with an excellent showing of manufacturers goods, bits & bobs, suppliers and private show entries. It has also gained in visitors during this time.

Regards

RE: Car Craft Show

Red Snake,
I’ve heard what you’ve said – honestly.

There shall be no further mocking of Mr Filby from me. However I shall continue to stand steadfastly against any mis-information that he proffers. Please remember that I was put out of business by such and I’ll vehemently oppose his gaining advantages or harming others with it again.

You say that Stafford is improving and I cannot confirm or deny that (although others have reported to the contrary). However, I’m absolutely certain that it’s not what it’s cracked up to be (rather like many other matters reported in the same magazine).

Please give me credit for the fact that I never printed an unreasonable word concerning Which Kit? from 1991 (when I started publishing) until May issue last year. I didn’t even attempt to counter his attacks (which started in 199 whilst they were going on. Instead I went to the Courts to settle the matter properly.

He admitted that his long campaign was of lies (and even apologised in court) and so please also give credit to the fact that my campaign has been 100% truthful.

RE: Car Craft Show

Den

I am not an exibitor, I am a 'punter' who is looking for a Cobra and with a general interest in kit cars who enjoys visiting shows.

Stafford and Stoneleigh only differ in scale.

I also am a subscriber to many magazines (including your newly launched Cobra Magazine).

I was trying to make the point that IF I were in the industry ( with an advertising requirement) and an exhibitor at Stafford I would not take kindly to your comments and as such they may affect where I placed my future advertising.

If I get the opportunity I will have a chat with Mr F.

RE: Car Craft Show

Hi Neil,
Thanks for clarifying were you’re coming from.

To put your mind at rest, and let you know where I’m coming from, thankfully (apart from my upsetting Dave – for which I’m truly sorry) I’m quite certain that the remaining exhibitors/advertisers know the score all too clearly. They know that the show isn’t supported by me and why. They know that it isn’t advertised in Kit Car (or anywhere else for that matter - Mr Filby’s decision) and that Kit Car is excluded (again Mr Filby’s decision) and they ‘pays their money and takes their choice’.

In previous years I’ve turned the other cheek. Nobody has stood up for me, nor influenced Mr Filby’s unfair trading practices. So, this year I’ve publicised the truth of what’s been going on and made clear my feelings on this and other subjects.

The listing of ‘RV Dynamics’ as one of ‘the industry’s big names’ is clearly wide of the mark. Its purpose is to deceive fresh customers into attending on the basis that more ‘big names’ are represented than is in fact the case. That’s wrong IMO. On the other hand, my making fun of it by calling it the ‘space craft’ or ‘which craft’ show is wrong too.

However, the crux of what is wrong is that I’m excluded and nobody is prepared to lift a finger to correct that injustice, yet complain about me when I attempt to correct it myself. I therefore appreciate your offer to speak to Mr Filby on my behalf. Thanks!

What’s hurting manufacturers isn’t IMO my name calling. Rather, it’s Mr Filby’s arrogance in refusing to advertise the event in the one magazine that could make all the difference.

RE: Car Craft Show

Hi Ben

Mondeos - Hmmm

The Subaru interest came from having 3 imprezas over the years and an interest in Rallying.

Unfortunatley this has blighted my Cobra requirements, in as much as I would love one that accelerates like the Impreza and goes round corners like one too. The accleration I think is manageable as for the bendy bits, we'll have to wait and see.

Sunday is usually the better day in as much as the traders start offering some good deals towards the end of the event so many a bargain can be had. Good hunting.

Cheers

Neil

RE: Car Craft Show

Den, I was thinking of visiting the Stafford show on Sunday. Now it's been about 3 years since I've been, but I seem to remember it as being, "a small but ok" kind of show.
I've been a regular at Stonleigh and Exeter with the odd Donnington thrown in for luck for the last 6 years, I'm on my third build.
Anyway my point is, if you've been barred from the show for the last 5 years how are you in a position to pass comment on it?
Just a thought.
